Default Buying a new Ford daily?

We got rid of our last Ford 3 years ago.

Really can't see anything worth buying.

Anything I have missed?

(No she doesn't want a Ranger)

Nah, like you say, they are all junk, don't bother with any Ford.

The luxury Euro cars crap all over what most mainstream manufacturers offer.

Top of the range Escape is nearly $60,000, similar sized in Euro cars, Mercedes A class starts at $51,000, 1 series BMW is under $50,000, both very nice cars, apart from Brand loyalty why would you buy a Escape over a Mercedes or BMW

I purchased a C200 for the wife about 5 years ago, she still hasn't stopped smiling

PHEV Escape is 60

The two litre petrol Escapes are in the 40 , s and as a drivers car plus power plus torque **** all over the a class and bmw x1.

Anyway just buy a Puma for mainly urban work they are great. I don’t have an issue with a puma on Highway country work but some six v8 prev owners might notice.

Zilo your pretty cashed up arnt you so begs the question why ask re a Ford ?
Just for convo wise - for a wife daily I agree the Puma looks and sounds the goods around that size, my wife seems to like the look of those when the time to downsize from a CX5 for eg.
What she like and size needed ?
I do agree on the euro root as mentioned.
My 330i has been brilliant and such a nice drive as my daily.

Have you actually driven a current A class or a BMW, I would say for power and torque, my wifes 1.8 turbo Mercedes was a winner hands down for us when we were in the market for a new car, we drove a lot of mainstream cars including the Escape and nothing came close to the Mercedes feel and power at the time, also bang for buck it was a winner, things might have changed in 5 years but I am converted now, I would buy another Mercedes for the wife without giving it a second thought, only reason I didn't go for a BMW at the time is they didn't want to do a decent trade in on the 2004 V8 Explorer, Mercedes did

Plus the wife is not interested in specs, power or torque, she just wants a nice car to drive.

Passenger in x 1.

Merc a series is a sedan sorry got that confused with that funny little hatch suv they used to do.
Grant you the a series sedan is an ok piece of gear if less power than price by price against base mid level Escape.

In my job I get to sample pretty much everything in the market from a Kia Picanto to Porsche and beyond, A lot more of the lower main stream stuff than the exotics I'm sad to say.
I have driven the latest Escape, actually many of them, still not my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal for some, I would still rather a Mercedes or a BMW if I had the choice, but that's me I'm 54, you can have a totally different opinion than I do, what works for me might not sit well for you.

All I can say is for a woman's car to drive, you cant make a decision without sampling the Euros, you will be surprised by the power and handling of them, also the fit and finish is way better than any main stream production car, you don't see too many clearcoat pealing Mercs or BMWs .

I would steer clear of whatever Audi has to offer or VW, but that could be just me, I hate them with a passion

The only Ford I would consider is the Puma, cracker of a car, real shame it does not come in a manual like they do in the UK.Other than that, Ford has nothing to offer for me anymore.Japanese & Koreans have the best choice these days.

Can’t do that.. unless it’s a Ranger Puma…

Agreed though, looking at the current line up only things that would tempt me would be maybe a mustang.. not sure yet if I like the 2024 one, this gen Raptor, and the up coming F150 and out of those 3, the 150 would be my top pick, for any other type of car, hatch, suv etc, I’d look at The other brands.. excluding Toyota, Toyota is just too blah for me

Just went to the Ford website, outside of 4x4's and Mustang there really is much on offer.... back in 2010 we bought a new WS Fiesta manual, cracker of a car, just to small when we had kids.

Ford here has always been hit and miss in the small to medium sectors sadly.
Sometimes some brilliant models but it was all downhill post Laser if my memory serves right.
The Fiestas/Focus's certain ones were brilliant and like the Mondeo always priced above the usual known suspects who also have/had more range, price and better percieved customer service. Customer service has been a huge black mark and players like Hyundai/KIA have picked up their game so much last 20yrs.
We our Oz Ford has become a clone of the USA - pick ups and Mustang and possibly Everest main sellers.
How the cards have fallen over the years, at least they are doing OK but yer choice is very limited and the sign of times how the company runs.

+1 I'm anti VAG coalition as well, they're nice when they're under manufacturer warranty but **** them off just before it ends.

When they iced the Fiesta and the Focus it ended Ford as an option for us.

me 3 re Das Auto, against my grain had my name down for the new Amarok, I've kept going will I or won't I, thankfully I found something that ticked my box's now can forget it.
They make some nice models but its the price you pay during ownership makes it bitter pill more than other brands.

One of my brothers friends had one of those tsi vw golfs. Apparently it went pretty good. She offered to sell it cheap to my brother but only once the hybrid rav 4 she ordered arrived. The delivery date for the rav4 went from 8 months to 10 months to 12 to 14. Standard new car stuff these days. So she cancelled that order and the golf did vw stuff and the transmission crapped out. So she traded the golf in and bough an instock volvo ev.

Are you just pointing out the current Ford range or you actually want to buy a new Ford other than a Ranger? First of all, what are your requirements? Size, space, engine, what are you going to use the car for? Etc Etc. Need more info.

My running joke on the VW forums....2nd most popular VW option at time of ordering...the extended warranty...

Or get the latest Ford Fiesta ST - the 1.5 litre turbo pulls very well on highway. Sits solidly and planted on road like a much larger car, but pulls hard and if our laws allowed it- I would happily cruise for hours on end at 180 kph and feel safe and comfortable doing it on smoother roadways.

Kia has a good range of cars at a reasonable price. The Cerato has good space, size and features at reasonable price. The Stinger V6T will be probably be collectable once it stopped been sold.

I have a drive of a Hyundai i30N with a 2.0T, it goes hard and handles well. There's also the N Line that has a 1.6T, that sounds like a good car too for the money, its in the mid-30's.
