Default au 3 suggish take off. Normal?

HI guys , is it normal that a 6cylinder au3 has a real slugish take off from stop? You nat even dropn a burnout using the brake. Is this normal?
I know every commodore Ive driven hammers off the line, Surely its not just because its a v instead of straight 6.

sounds normal to me.

its because the falcon's first gear (in the auto anyway) is really tall.

a Hi-stall torque converter will solve this problem.

You can - there are plenty of AUs at the drags (willowbank, heathcote, calder etc) that drop very decent burnouts. Perhaps the places you are trying (public roads) are not the appropriate place to do them anyway, so perhaps you shouldn't complain.

What, in the wet burnout pads, are you kidn me. Firstly, I wouldnt bother racing a near stock au at the track, not after owning a 1000 hp plus street car.
Secondly, at my age , Im not looking to entertain myself by doing burnouts on public roads{though I have in the past}, I was merely stating a fact. Ive not owned the car for long, and its just one of those things I do when Testing a car. What Im trying to say is that its very dowy in first, thats it.

Yeah, wouldn't want to be embarrassed or anything, its only an I6 and we all know REAL drag cars are V8s.. (sarcasm off)

(has anyone else noticed the proliferation of "used to own 1000hp streetcars" lately? That's in excess of 740kw.. I don't think there is a SINGLE 700+kw car on the forums so I'd love to know where all these 1000hp streetcars are hiding)

Actually, your "sarcastic" statement is actually a true statement. Do you know of any Top Alcohol, or SuperSedans (or whatever it's called that Victor Bray etc compete in) that are I6s? I don't. They are all V8s as it is easier to get 1000HP+ out of a Big Blown V8 than it is from a 4.0 I6. So...REAL drag cars are V8s (even if it's only because that's what the rules state they must be).

Yes, I would also like to know where all these 1000+HP Streetcars are hiding. I would love to do the same mods, if nothing else.

Almost all the fastest STREET cars in Australia are actually rotaries.. but that's not the point. The point is that many different classes of drag cars exist in the amateur ranks and, just because its a 6, doesn't mean its not worth racing.. stock or not.

Mate bait taken.

You're on the wrong forum we love racing our 200hp falcons here.

The AU falcon auto is not really going to do burnouts because it was overgeared with a 2.39 first gear and a 3.08-3.23 diff to curb the wet weather wheelspin problems of the live rear axle in the AU sedans. Not toatally nobled to stop wheelspin also to get a better L/100km sticker on the windscreen.

I had a similar probelm in my fairlane. The torque converter died and had to be replaced (so i had a small upgrade). Its not very common bu its possible. But for a brand new torque convertar i got it for $300 fited. And she was back to doing skids as per normal. :hihi:

Agreed. I would still take mine down the 1/4, if we had one here!

If you want to be pushed in your seat, or spin the wheels, get a manual... weather its a Holden Rodeo (sp?) or a Manual Falcon. Forget the Auto... just good for city driving, and towing...

I beg to differ. I have an auto that will destroy most manuals off the line and do it repeatedly... time after time after time.. without fail..
