Hey all ive got a mk2 cortina running a ca18det and have a r31 diff I will be doing most of the work myself but will need axles shorten resplined ect. Whats involved with this conversion and are the axles 28spline? Any info would be great thanks

4 Pin LSD out of a Silhouette should have 28 spline axles. Otherwise maybe 25 spline? Pull one out and count to be sure. Unless you are a suitably gifted machinist, you will need a diff shop to respline. Get them to drill whatever stud pattern you want at the same time.
Otherwise shorten the housing down to standard Cortina (or some other length depending on what wheels you are running. Measure things up good to make sure the wheel mounting faces come out to what you want though. Spring platforms can be cut off and welded onto the new diff, or made from scratch. Get the angles and separation right though! Lash will need to be set too. |
