Hey guys finally got myself a poly green manual sprint.
Pretty stock but its sure gets along...heaps of fun...i cant get the grin off my face!! It was in sydney but had a vic rego sticker. The rego was XRAHAH and expired last december. Does anyone know who owned it...i would really like to get its history because it didn't have a service book or owners manual. Send a pm if you can help. I got a bit carried away last weekend though, started out replacing a ball joint and ended up pulling the whole front end off. Decided to fit king sl.at the same time. I thought sprints had a camber kit standard but this one didn't. Does anyone no the approximate shim setup...it might save me when i get an alignment. Anyway goin out to replace the front bearing seals. |

if you have put different springs in, the number of shims will change anyway, from what they are stock

Mate. Well done.. All Sprints had camber / castor adjustments. The upper of the top wish bone should have 4 bolts through the shocker towner.. Does it have green (or is it Blue) nyolthane bushes on the sway bars and other mounting points etc?
Looks like it has a factory "sprint" body kit installed. This was an option. If you want more info on the car. Contact FPV and provide them the VIN number and proof you own it etc and they will tell you what it left the factory with. |

Looks great. One thing I've noticed which seems a bit weird, may just be the light though, but it looks like the section around the front number plate is unpainted. I know the top should be unpainted (as with the rest of the upper bumpers and side moulds) but it looks like the bottom bit is too.

Heres a couple of more shots.
Engine bay is clean as but I need to get a cover. and take a look at the head shot....its stamped as GT, but i thought it should say gt40. The bushes are the colour of the rainbow...the rear ntrailing arm bushes are dark purple!, the front transvers link? are red and the sway bar is light blue. The body kit doesnt suit so i think it might go. Perhaps a bobtail and a set of 17s. ELgts always look good but everyone has em. I saw a set of wheels on a car the other day that i hadnt seen before good...marked as CEC. Better get the exhaust sorted first...it has pceys but the rest looks standard in a weird sort of way,Dunno why ford would design such a setup. |

Nice, your 'sprint' plate on the upper manifold is in awesome nick.
I'll swap ya LOL Agree with the kit, I'm not a huge fan of it, the bobtail spoiler definately looks 100% better. Looks to be in awesome condition mate, congrats! What other options the original owner tick? |

the heads dont say gt40 its either GT or GTP (for gt40p heads) which arent on our models, and leave the cover off cos to tak eit off and on, whecked that thread on the manifold,
also get that battery out of that car, it farked my bonnet lining, and it touched the metal

Scooter, Well done mate. Yep all the bushes are different colours..
Looks like the extractors have bene changed. Is the rest of the system factory or after market?(The factory one is twin down to the diff and joins on top of the diff. The body kit is a factory optionwith the raised rear spolier on the boot. Not very common on XR8 Sprints.. Looks like all the goodies are in the engine bay.. From the pic.. Manual car, cruise control, Correct MAF complete with red stickers still intact on the top of the MAF etc, Pink break resivour, correct Inlet manifold, clean upper water resivour (so has been changed / car has been looked after.) The engine bay has cables / wires all over the place (std for ED's) : |

Hey all this is my first post on here, I have been a reader of the forums for a while now.
Mate she looks in preety good nic, Id give Ford or FPV a ring and confirm it is a sprint (Im pretty sure it is). I recently purchaced a White 5spd Sprint a few weeks back, And as you say i cant stop smiling every time i jump in it to take it for a run, I just wish it had a few more options but i cant complain. Good luck with it mate! |
