Default Peak hour traffic (Thinking of driving in at 7am)

I need to drive from Berwick/Narre Warren to Collins street (to get a birth cert to then get a tax file number).

Anyone have any idea when peak hour begins in the morning?

You just missed it - it starts at 3:09!

My son drives from Werribee to Blackburn Rd (Notting Hill) each morning about 8ish. This morning he left at 6:30 and it took him 1/2 the time (he got to work before it opened).

Given you want to be in the city after 8:30/9, you will just have to grin and bear peak hour or get there a couple of hours before they open, or leave well after 9am.

To get travel times, check out http://traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au/t...spx?width=1280 and when the page is up, click on the Monash to get times.

Catch the Train in and out, save you a lot of heart ache...

You'd want to be in the city by 7:00am to avoid the traffic. Catching a train from Berwick means you'd most likely get a seat and possibly an express service in to Flinders Street.

Cool

I drive daily from Berwick to Clayton (Monash uni) I usually take M1 and the worst traffic starts around Stud Rd exit, way before 8 am.
On weekends the trip takes me ~20 min, weekdays morning around an hour, no matter what time I leave home (I tried 7:30, 8:00, 8:15 and 8:30) I usually get to work ~9 am.
And it's gotten even worse since students came back to uni.

Just be patient or take a train.

My wife uses the M1 at those times, if you hit the freeway at 6am you "should" be ok, she is usually on it at 6.30 and sometimes its ok (meaning 40k's) other times its stop/start.

I drive into work early, i either have breakfast at maccas or a coffee at starbucks with a paper to waste the time, better than idling through traffic i think

Take Aquahead’s advice and jump on a train. It’ll be safer for all of us.
