It would be best if you could describe the noise and the general area it comes from - "weird" doesn't really help..

Sorry holbrookau.

well, it comes from the engine, my mate had a look at it and he said that it could have somethign to do with a rack or a power stearing problem.

OK, so we know the approximate area - please describe the noise.

Sorry to hear this timmy, if im out and about ill drop by tomorrow and have a listen. The best thing to do would be to take the car down to a mechanic and get them to sus out what the problem is, then youll know the cost to repair it aswell.

I had a strange noise in the fairmont, used to happen when turning corners, sounded like the bearing on the steering shaft had failed (used to only happen when you turned the wheel).

Had a good look round and realised the plastic cover for the engine mount had popped off and was getting in the way of the shaft as it rotated. It would make a bit of a grinding noise then squeek when the wheel was turned as the knuckle hit on the cover.

could be thousands of things matey...
Air in coolant system
Object in cat converter, or even a failed cat
front wheel bearings
bubble in tyre
serpentine tensioner

Its all we can do without a proper description of sound mate.

That would be the radiator cap releasing pressure due to overheating. Take it to a cooling specialist.

could it be the torque thingy.... I was told originally the head gasket was gone in my car, but when I got her to the mechanics he chuckled and told me that I had finally murdered the torque thing.. convertor or something like that..
It made a weird sort of gurgle sound (still does at times)...

My guess is coolant area... maybe try and flush your cooling system and see if the problem persists?

You havent added an amp or anything electrical lately??

You could have shorted something and your alternater has shat itself?

I did that once. Had an amp wire come loose and weld itself to the chassis. The alternator belt started squeeling as the alternator temporarily siezed. It worked afterwards but had bearing noise(a possibility of yours)..

Lesson learnt since is to fuse everything lol
