Default Last V8 & i6 cylinder engines have been built!

Dunno whether this has been posted eleswhere, but was sent this image of what looks like the last Australian built ford engines:

It's getting very real now.

"A job well done". They certainly aren't wrong there! Both of these engines are world class, and it's sad to see them go. The enjoyment I get from the Barra Turbo nestled in the engine bay of my ute is hard to beat. Even the old single-cam units had their own character but the twin cam Barra is something special, particularly with the turbo bolted onto the side. Both these engines will be missed.

Sad news there.

which engine is red? I thought it was only the Turbos. Is it a G6E Turbo engine since all the XR6T are done? Though it doesnt look like a Turbo engine...

Thanks for the memories...

I wonder if either of these engines will end up in a car or will they go to a museum?

It has a red cam cover so it would be a regular turbo, so probably a g6et.

G'day ...Thanks for posting this thread...INCREDIBLY SAD TO SEE THOUGH..
Indeed it's very very real now..I remember back in 2013 when the factory closures were announced.. It was three years away..Not any more
Now it's just eleven days away , less than 300 hours ..
These engines never to grace a new car again from this country ..

The Barra , yes indeed is a wonderful , durable , reliable , exhilarating donk.
I have one in my FG and I also have a beaut sweet ol' SOHC in my AU..

The SOHC isn't as 'in your face' as the mighty Barra version but on many counts they can hold their 'head' high. The ultimate compliment , even from the Red mob is BULLET PROOF..They certainly are..

The Barra set a very high bar when the Turbo arrived with it's release in 2002 and the big Turbo six will be very fondly enjoyed and remembered many years into the future..

The 5.0 Supercharged V8...What a great way to finish..This is genuinely an absolute cracker.. The grunt that this engine develops via the top notch design and a fantastic Aussie developed blower to boot means that the last of the Falcon V8 powerplants is one of the absolute best going around..
Great efforts for both 6 and V8's..We will miss you both.
Cheers Rod..

I remember exactly what I was doing that Thursday morning when the Ford announced their plans.

As a mad, obsessed Ford, Falcon and Inline six fan, its been a painful thing to witness for the last three years, almost to the point I just now want it to be over.

A sad, sad moment in time. The first car I ever drove had a Falcon six, my first car had a Falcon six and my first brand new car had a Falcon six not mention countless other Falcons I have driven that have featured inline six's in many of their iterations.

Is the equipment to make the I6 going to be used anywhere else in the Ford Universe or is all equipment now in the dumpster?

This will be a painful week and a half, my gut sank reading that, the mags that are coming out celebrating the end of an era, although will be a pleasure to enjoy, will be some of the most painful reading I'll ever do, here we are, that time it ends, all this entrenched history ending in my life time, even my son at the tender age of 17 is starting to realise he's watching the automotive landscape forever, every car I've driven excluding the E has been a I6.
I'm honestly now happier than ever I scored a FGX also as I'm really struggling with what's around the corner, sounds silly, but in all honesty, part of me will die on oct 7

Looks the same height to me, even on its deck the Terri would be higher? Unless the one in front is the last saleable Falcon and then the actual last Falcon that will be kept?

It must be very weird (most of all for the long time production line workers) to look up the line past the Territory and see nothing. An empty line. Literally a black hole, to which their job is disapearing.

It must seem unreal that the line you've Been seeing full for 20+ years has nothing else in it. Like when you move house after 20 years. Walk back into those rooms and it's weird that you look and go: "the louge was there, entertainment unit was there, display cabinet, coffee table...."
