I think I seen on the cover of either wheels or motor that HSV will be bringing out a GTS-R. Anyone have any specs or the actual article?

Its Been on the cards since before the W427 was released, there was a plan to follow on from the 200 W427's (no not 427, 200 was the official QTY) with a slightly watered down version later on...

While it does look odd I actually dont mind the old VS GTS-R, would be the only HSV id consider and one of the few HSV's that I think will be collectible one day.

This one is rumoured to have a wet sumped version of the LS7 and supposed to be less than 100k. Power outputs are around the 335kw mark, but is also rumoured to have dropped 100 kilos. Doesn't sound too bad IMO.

Sounds like a good combination. If only it wasn't in a VE shell though.

I also liked the VS GTS-R's. There used to be a fair few of them driving around my neighbourhood but in the last 5 years they've dissapeared which is a shame. A few of them were even the special blueprinted versions too

Id say a lot of them went into storage for owners hoping to make money off them.

Probably just more Holden/HSV media hype about a car that may or may not make it to market. Easiest way to get on the front cover of Wheels/ Modern Holden mags.

I've seen it on the front cover, looks alright for a guess!! End up just like the Coupe60 I reckon. Either way, can't knock them for having a go at all these concepts, wish ford had a few more.

I know of one of the blueprint cars in my suburb (think i've got photos somewhere) that is original owner and less than 30,000km...
by his own admission, he will never sell it (he's in his 60's) and he got super offended when I suggested it looks like an ex-taxi with a RICE spoiler...
hahahah

truth be told its a very rare beast... shame about the colour selection though... what were they thinking!!!

Holden should bite the bullet and do away with crappadores and bring back the kingswood...as long as does NOT look like the worlds ugliest car ( Commodores of any era)

I wonder if they would keep with the tradition of it just being Taxi spec with a monster driveline? Would people buy a HSV if it just had an Omega interior?

If they use the LS9 it will be a beast.

I suspect it is just a cover special to sell some copies, they have done it before.

I remember Motor doing a similiar thing, seeing that a GTSR is in the works with an LS9. Problem is, it works.

No chance... it will be a detuned wet sump version of the LS7, about 350kw..

But it wont be a GT-HO, it will be a GT-H.....

Similar end product but without the stigma and need to live upto unrealistic expectations....

true...

but you and I both know what it is 'aiming' at...

maybe they can say that the printer ran out of ink when they were putting forward the proposal for the GT-HO... perhaps its a typo... ??

correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't GTSR commodores all blue printed? 5.7litre stroker engines(not chev motors but 304's) and made to order?

I really liked the VS GTS-R, it was something differnt for the time, to bring it back it would have to be just as special, and i dont think doing it with the ugly VE body is they way

The worst thing about the VS GTS-R was the executive VT LS1 having more power....

The styling was really out there, i couldn't believe it was factory the first time i saw one.

I believe you are on the correct money with the 5.7 stroker engiines - but the blue printed upgrade was an extra cost factor that bumped up the power to 225 kws - mind you, this from memory and I stand to be corrected.

At the time, the VS GTS-R was 'out there' and looked awesome.

Now it looks like a tarted up taxi with a dodgy eBay spoiler kit and rims.

And no, the 5.7 litre stroker engine was not blue printed as standard; it was a cost option and the work was carried out by HRT.
