Hey everyone,
Just wondering what weight/viscosity oil everyone is using in their 5 litre AUs. I looked in the specs and it was 5w30 which seems pretty thin. looking for some feedback before i change the oil in mine. Cheers |

I'd look at a 10w30 or 15w40, Castrol or Nulon, semi-synth or full synth, based on the fact you're in SA and not knowing how many kays she's done

Mike, as you know I use Nulon Full Synthetic Hi Tech Fast Flowing 10w/40. Havent had any issues and is a very good oil. I realise we are talking a 6 vs and 8, but I dont think you'll have any problems with it.
If your funds dont permit, you can go the Nulon everyday oil. Get maybe a 15w/40 as Mr Hardware mentioned, and see how you go.

I've been running Shell Ultra 5w40 Full Syn, which seemed fine.
There was a bit of lifter noise when cold. Just changed to Penrite HPR 10 Semi Syn, which is a 10w50. No lifter noise now, and may be just my imagination, fuel economy appears a touch better ?? |

i am leaning towards 15w40 at the moment. The motor has done 240 000 ks and it has 20w50 in it at the moment. I get a bad lifter noise at idle when cold which must be due to the oil being too thick when cold. So its a toss up between 10w40 or 15w40

There isnt a lot of difference between 10 and 15w mate. As summer is approaching, Go the 15. When winter sets in, got the 10. Thats what I will be doing.
