Default Need some help from a TS50 owner...

Hey all,

Just need a quick bit of help, I need to know if there is a difference in the design of the climate control unit and dash spear over the 3 series.

I ask this because I just got mine off eBay and the display part is darker than the spear.

If you could post pictures this would help heaps!

Thanks,

Mitch

I thought all the T'series had the same finish around the C/C . The only thing that is darker is the screen on the S1 being black backgroung & orange letters.

You bought it from that "marcello" guy on Ebay didnt you!

The raindrops finish (bit on the right) is from T3, I *think* the other bit may be the "urban geometric" finish which was found in T1? Im not sure on that but it might be possible.

On a side note, I have never been able to find any company like modicoat etc who can successfully replicate the raindrops finish from Ford.

Throw up the part #'s from the back of the pieces. You should be able to tell from that.

And on the spear:

The design on the left looks fake. It's not the same as the T-Series.

My T1 TS50 has the same patterned finish on the right of the above pic.. for the C/C unit, above passenger side airbag, gear shift surround and all 4 doors. I don't think the design/pattern changed in look on any of the T-Series cars.

Hmm.. I'd guess the only car to be fitted with the Urban Goemetric design (the pattern on the left) would be a T3 TE50. Because all other T-series, T1 TS50/TE50/TL50, T2 TE50/TS50/TL50 and T3 TS50/TL50 had the Fairmont based dash and the same patterned finish I have on my T1 TS50 (Raindrops?). A T3 TE50 owner could confirm this I guess.

Don't the T3 TE50's have a dress up bit of plastic just above the passenger airbag? Or is it exactly the same as the XR's.

Think you are right Mark. Had a look through some photos of T1 (and T2) TE50's and the finish of the C/C unit certainly looks lighter than the one on my TS50. Learn something new everyday.

A look at the T2 brochure & my garage makes me think it was just a T1 TE thing but you never know with Ford, some may have found its way into the later cars.

Yeah.. I wasn't sure on T2 TE50 hence the brackets. So only the T1 TE50's had a different finish to the CC unit and dash spear. Interesting.

Tell you what, If (and that's a big IF) the T-Series cars ever become as collectable as say the X series GT Falcons, it's going to take some keen eyes and knowledge to keep on top of all the changes Ford made to the T-Series over the 3 series just to make sure it's AUthentic. There's sooo many running changes that were standard on one series and optional on another, deleted items and such, it's not going to be very easy.
