Ok.....

If your going to be fitting a 4.0 MPFI motor in replace of the 3.9 CFI motor this is the things you are going to need to do.

1. Do a MPFI conversion to your CFI wiring. This conversion can be found on FORDTECH but most mechanics dont wanna do it. Its not to hard aslong as you follow the instructions

2. Since your car is EA you will need a EA MPFI ECU, now depending on the age of the EA if its 88-89 you will need a EA Series 1 (87DA) ECU or if its 90-91 EA series 2 (90DA) ECU.

3. Finally, because you have an EA you will need to get your hands on a EA MPFI loom. The EB one cannot be used without heavy mods. Just pickup a MPFI loom from a wreckers with the ECU.

Hope this was some help

Another option would be doing it one thing at a time. You can put in the 4.0 long motor and leave it CFI, then look at MPI later.

All of this is possible ..... Im in the middle of doing it as I type :p

One word of advise ........ I would suggest doing the complete wiring change ... it will take longer but I think its worth it in the end .... it makes it a hell of a lot easier when you have the donor vehicle ...... especially if you dont know what your doing like me ;)

Take your time ......... It wont happen overnight as some crappy shampoo commercial suggests :P

I have found that the wiring diagrams in any of the manuals confuse you more so I actually traced the wiring and adjusted where needed from there .......

Just remember ......patience is the key ....... that and no kids around so the swearing isnt a problem :P

Any help you need just call ;)
