Default Fried Smartlock?

So this is what I get for installing another stereo, eh? To cut the story short, I think a positive and ground wire made contact behind my stereo. I then noticed the Smartlock jewel on the dash wasn't flashing. Of course, everything else works power wise... It won't kick over though.

Anyway, I pulled out the Smartlock module, and noticed an area that looked "burnt."

Can someone tell me if this would be the cause? I checked the fuses inside the car, but they're fine. If it is, is it as easy as swapping another Smartlock module in and firing away? I was informed by Dellboy that I'd need to leave the key on the "On" position for 20 minutes for it to learn the codes. Is the procedure this simple?

Cheers

you probably cut the power wire for the smartlock module? its on the stereo connector plug and when most people put a new headunit in they just cut all the wires off the connector.

it is one of the green and yellow ones. it goes back up into the dash (to the smartlock module i guess) check that first.

that burnt thing is an on board resistor :0), I think you can get them from jaycar etc if you know what resistance it is, then unlsoder and solder a new one in.

Don't worry, the Smartlock section in my workshop manual give you heaps of options to fix it. Ie; Replace Smartlock module.

Infact, that's the only option!

Default oops

damn, i just put my stereo in last week, and did the same thing... except it was just a fuse in my case.

good luck anywayz, not sure how costly another smartlock module would be though.

Glad im not the only one to do this. hahahaha (didnt fry the module though, blew a fuse)
And yeh, twist the green/yellow (twin) wires together if you dont have a head unit in then the light should come back on in about a minute.
