All 200kw and 220kw engines are hand built, the only "production line" ones were the 185kW models found in Series I XR8's and all non-XR V8 models in the AU range.

The 250kw stroker motor is only in T3 T-Series and Pursuit 250 Utes, you will be able to tell these apart very easily.

With the T's they were all hand built and personally fitted by a guy called Sbutler. He is on here somewhere.

Really the "hand built" line is a bit mis-leading.. in reality "hand built" just means "the volume isnt big enough to justify a seperate production line..."
Maybe "hand rebuilt" would be more appropriate, all they do is pull the std motor apart and fit some extras.

That's because utes never got the 200kw motor until series 3, IIRC. Series 1 & 2 utes were all 185 kw jobbies. No ute ever got the 220kw motor either (well, not factory). But some did get the 250kw unit (series 3 Pursuit ute)

In the utes, the 200kw motor was brought in during series 2, after the Pursuit Utes were made. They were such a success that the 200kw engine became standard.

I think thats right anyway!

edit: straight from FPV's website:

Quote:
The XR8 Pursuit limited edition based on this AU Series II upgrade and launched in January 2001 was an important marker in Falcon ute history after it was the first to feature the 200 kW engine in the ute range and brought the XR8 utes and sedans in line. The Pursuit badge, which featured on the side skirts, was once the proud performance name for the Falcon's more powerful sixes but the neat play on the word ute made it the ideal badge for a premium performance ute model. The XR8 Pursuit also featured special body additions, polished sports bars and matching tonneau as standard.

The success of the first Pursuit led to the 200 kW engine being offered as the base XR8 engine by April 2001 but the sports bars and body additions became an option.

Have a look at your throttle body....If it has tickford wings its a 220kw if not its a 200kw both are hand built jobs...200kw was in the first t-series then put into au 2 xr8's then 220kw's same deal, then T3 all had 250kw 5.6L stroker engines..

Without wanting to turn this thread into an argument, would you like to elaborate on that? I'm interested as to why you would say that.
