Default Dodge Charger Hellcat

My friend Norm brought along a brand new Dodge Charger Hellcat to the annual Harrigans Classic Car Show near the Gold Coast yesterday.
At 707hp (factory quoted), Norm reckons its a bit of a handful.

Parked up with Ray's Z06

Tail lights switched on

20" optional wheels

Nice cars!! I Love the hellcat chargers more than the challengers!! Do you know what it has cost him so far and what the conversion will be worth?

Hellcat, seriously the only word that makes me drool on my keyboard. Why is it so?

Norm imports them and holds the OZ licence to convert them to RHD.
The finished price depends on what you paid for the donor car ... if you can get one! They have a RRP in USA of around USD$80k odd, but dealers are getting $20k over retail for them. A ball park figure here for one finished, is $150k - $180k. By the way I've driven new Challengers converted by Norm and you can't detect the difference from a factory product.

Norm has contacts within Chrysler/Fiat and has been advised that due to new upcoming emissions standards the Company will be dropping V8's in the not to distant future and going the twin turbo V6 route.

Wish I was with a demo like that to take home.
These types of cars are bought by people with a lot of disposable income who want the latest toy.

275/40R20 tyres. Commonly fitted to SUV's and they don't look oversized at all.

Charger must be a pretty big car

Basically same size as the Chrysler 300. as the Challenger, Charger and 300 all sit on the same platform.

Scary thing is.. that 707hp.. is actually under quoted, as Motor trend got a reading of around 650rwhp from a challenger if I remember correctly when they put it on a dyno.

It is a bulky type of car. The rear tyres were 285's or 295's - I can't remember.
With that kind of power they are still undersized. LOL
Norm was saying that coming down the highway at the posted 110kph limit he overtook a slower lane hog and nearly ended up interstate in an instant.

Expensive...but probably well worth it.

Then again imagine if our government treated us like adults and let us buy brand new LHD cars if we so wished...

lol why couldn't they build a v8 using the same technology as the v6 twin turbo?? say direct injection, vct which they already have, the American market wants and loves v8 so they will not stop making v8s.

sorry for nit picking and awesome rig by the way chargers are pimping.

No worries barnz, but the problem is a complex issue.

President Barack Obama recently announced an amended version of the “54.5” mpg Federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy rule. Thus it's easier for auto makers to downsize to smaller engines that create more power.
Check out what the CEO of Chrysler/Fiat has to say about the future of V8's ... http://www.hybridcars.com/chrysler-b...extinct-50885/

If Daimler AG hadn’t dumped Chrysler in 2007 there is every chance they’d be running the range of small capacity twin turbo V8 Mercedes-Benz engines instead of a 6.

Amazing bodywork,. badass, love the Street Racing Technology badges. but what's up with the 90s Hyundai interior with an LCD screen. A hellcat with mustang interior would be divine... Wonder if they could rig that up

Someone could probably give it a crack. These guys put most of the running gear from a 2015 scat-pack Challenger in a 1971 challenger.

Wish there was some footage of them fanging it.

Love it. This company knows what the deal is.

Only downside: Imagine all the 4WD mums fighting over a car space outside school in one of these....bang, straight through a classroom.
