Question MEDIA vs PERFORMANCE VEHICLES

Hey y'all! I am wanting to know your opinions on this cos I am getting damn tired of listening to the media : blaming owners of high performance/modified vehicles on everything evil that happens on the black top.
While speed is quite possibly the leading cause of road fatality in Australia, I fail to understand why those with 'faster cars' than the average citizen are the ones who are getting pinned down with the blame. :
I recently watched a story on A Current Affair and listened as they had a whinge about car modifications such as the rear spoiler/wings on the back of some cars being a hazard to pedestrians because if they walk in to traffic a car with a wing could cause the pedestrian to lose a limb ... for crying out loud!!! I am pretty sure a pedestrian stepping in to traffic can lose a limb no matter if the car had a rear spoiler at all!
From memory, I am pretty sure it was Peter Brock who got on and made the statement that, "It's not the car, it's the driver". It was quite possibly the only sensible thing the media aired that night. :
It's stories like this on nightly news that are making the australian population glare at me and other car lovers because we have a loud exhaust, a turbo, body kit ... whatever it might be and I think that is so presuming and in most cases, false!
All we need is a space somewhere we can go and do legalised burn outs, drifts, skids and speed as fast as the lil ford can go (220km/h on an outback highway on the weekend :sm_headba )!!!! And I'm not talking about opening the raceway one night every fortnight where you have to travel an hour to get there.
Anyway, enough of my whingeing, I am just wanting to know if any one else is getting truly peeved off at this or if it's just me having a teary about it ...

LOOKS SICK, SOUNDS SICK, GOES QUICK
