Ok, i need you guys to settle a debate that my partner and i are currently having.
He has an XD that doesn't currently have any badge on it, and he is wanting to put an FPV badge on the car, with a honeycomb grill. He thinks the FPV badge has a bit more class about it than a regular Ford one (being that it is chrome) Now, personally, i think it's a stupid idea, i just don't think it would be appropriate, it's not an FPV car, so you don't put an FPV badge on it. He (and some of his mates) think it's a perfectly reasonable idea. So, what do you guys think?? Good idea or not? |

Is it at least a decent XD, done up a bit? - if its a nice unit he could (wouldn't do it myself),
but if its bog stock or a ****** box & he puts it on u could take a photo and post it in the "Epic Fail's - Car Related.." thread |

If it was a b/f series it wouldn't be so bad because then it would at least be the right body shape
But I say it's a stupid idea

Meh, I reckon each to their own..
It's his car, if he wans an FPV badge on it, it's up to him.

At least there's a connection between the Chev badges and most of the Commodores they get put on, there's no link between an XD and FPV.

Considering that it's his car and not anyone here, why do so many seem to care so much?

Personally, it isn't something I'd consider doing.
Not my car and each to there own. PS. If KRISTO can put TL50 badges on his Fairlane (and alot have encouraged such), this bloke can also do what he wants. Last edited by J.C.; 19-10-2011 at 10:19 AM. |

Not much different to having a window sticker showing your passion for the team. Except a badge doesnt stand out as much as a giant falcon on the rear window.
I think having them on anything BA or newer is being more of a poser. Now seeing a Tickford badge on the boot lid of a VK commodore... that had me scratching my head. |

LOL PB I was about to post that.
1. Its his car so he can do what he likes, we have all done things when looking back at we scratch our heads, dont deny it people 2. If he does then no doubt we will see it in the Fail thread 3. If he had a BOSS or I6T in there then all is forgiven |

100% epic FAIL if he puts a fpv badge on an XD. Its a Ford, the Ford badge looks right at home on the car.
Now if he had a Tickford era handbuilt EFI 5.0 Windsor in it and some Tickford suspension goodies etc, i.e. had the car tricked up with some later model stuff, then I would consider a Tickford badge to be ok on it..

I vote against it.
I hate badge engineering, it leads to misrepresentation and can also lead to court where the seller or buyer just plead ignorance. That said, it's also gay, boganistic and smacks of underachievement. If he does it, put it in the thread that Pottery Beige suggested.

Was that an old school toyota? How'd it sound? There's a bunch of old (early 80's) corollas getting around with a 351 cleveland in them. Apparently it's a popular engine to retrofit to these little cars. Several of them are on the burnout circuit.

I have the perfect solution..
Instead of a FPV badge, get him a 2X tickford badge and attach it on the side front panels. I knew of an XF with a side tickford badge and someone at a bbq said "I didnt know they made tickford cars in the XF series" he responded with "they did".. Whilst I lolled, it didnt look half bad. |
