There seems to be a riot of Barra-swaps these days, however this seems so appropriate..............
https://www.streetmachine.com.au/fea...rra-jaguar-xjc v I don't normally like highly modified cars, but OMG, yes yes yes! It's a Jaguar, its British Racing Green, its got a contrasting caramel interior, and a beautifully finished inline 6. I really like how they managed to keep some of the original Jag chrome theme with the engine. One would assume it would actually be reliable having a Barra fitted. I probably would have dropped the turbo and kept the car naturally aspirated, more in keeping with the car rather than the explosion just waiting to happen with an F6 spec engine.

I would have pursued something like this with the engine, keeping it naturally aspirated. Although probably not the easiest route.

Certainly does!
When I was at high school, one of my classmates in graphics had a deep blue Jaguar XJ for his first car. I will say, he was not the mechanically minded sort, I think you can read between the lines on that one, but his father was a mechanic. In this case, they replaced the big Jag inline-6 with a SOHC EF Falcon 4.0 and 4-speed auto. Arguably a backward step in terms of refinement, but at least it ran.

Tidy enough - would personally prefer slightly less “bling” and a bit more black lacquer to engine bay parts (with the odd bit of burnished brass), but all credit to the maker for not going SBC.
SU dashpots would be good looking covers for BOVs, I reckon. |

A series 2 XJ6 is on the list of cars I want to own. They look cleaner than Series 1 IMO. When I was in basic training in the Navy one of our Leading Hand instructors had an XJ6. He was gay so many jokes floated around about him drilling trainees in the back seat and not the parade ground. But I was reading up about them last week and his very car is used for a pic on wiki. Look good in red. |

shudder to think the $$$ involved. Hope he plans on keeping it a long time otherwise bad investment
But I just love it. That is my idea of class rodding.

I'd highly doubt the owner would get the return on investment with that car, but you'd probably say that for any heavily modified car. That's not to say the car isn't valuable, rather its a car built to the owner's desires, something that may not fully appeal to a potential buyer.

Will probably find the car started out as a basket case where if it hadn't been built and modified it just would of been scrapped.

Stunning car and superb work under the bonnet.
Grandad had a Series 1 or 2 XJ6 in bright yellow/black roof, and a series 3 Daimler Sovereign in metallic blue - both beautiful cars. Always had a soft spot for them, childhood memories. The Barra is a spiritual equal of the old XK6. Did you know they prototyped the XK6 with it's overhead cams during WW2 in overtime night watch shifts at the factory? XK6 and Barra may now be gone, but Jaguar has got a new inline 6 in the Ingenium motor - want one. Strangely, I don't think it's fitted to the XE or XF, but it is an option in the P400 F-Pace. Get one before they are all gone in 2025! Here's a great review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aMr2vUg_zU

Any ideas on what this conversion/ customisation cost (interior exterior etc) ?
A top company, lots of mods inside and out, I’m tipping not much change from $100G |

Perhaps with all the dialing back of EV production off falling customer demand in the last few months, Jag's new CEO might go 'hey, let's keep producing the XE, XF, F-Pace and F-Type for a few more years and maybe throw the inline 6 in them to give them Space Grace and Pace' so we can all buy one before the end.

Just out of interest, has anyone put the P400 ingenium I6 into a Jag XE? Would fit?

I love the brand and the cars they make, but they just can't get a leg up can they, and that's after multiple re-inventions over the last 20 years.

For the record, the Jaguar V8 and V6 have the same block dimensions, they just cast a blanking for the rear two cylinders to create the V6. That V6 has been discontinued now, and the V8 is not long for this world, being replaced by the terrible BMW 4.4 V8.

That V6 is a greater travesty than the stillborn PRV V8.
