Got a call from my ford dealer yesterday advising me that my MD Titanium wagon needs to come into the shop for about an hour to replace the battery harness. A quick google has found that:
“ models manufactured from January 2014 to January 2019. Potential leakage of battery acid around the battery negative terminal could cause the battery monitoring sensor to fail. Over time growth of copper sulphate may accumulate. This could provide a conductive layer underneath the Battery Monitoring Sensor, creating a low resistance to ground. The increased current flow, due to low resistance, could cause the surrounding material to heat up to a point where it ignites, resulting in a fire.” Can only find references to this in Europe and USA. Doesn’t seem to be on the Australian recall website, but did show up on the Ford owners page when I searched my VIN. Just a heads up for other Mondeo owners.

Thanks for the heads up!
Just checked my dealer service scheduling website and this informs me that there is an active recall on my 2016 Titanium.. Recall code: 19S33. MONDEO BMS CONNECTOR So far I've had no communication from Ford nor the dealer about this recall. |

My dealer rang me to book it it (helps that I’m personal friends with them). Apparently will take less than an hour to resolve.

I've not heard anything yet. I've looked on Ford Owners and it didn't show up for me. Both of you have diesels. I wonder if this issue is exclusive to diesels?

It is being rectified on mine today as part of its service (diesel). Added about half an hour to the service.

Must be a diesel thing, checked the VIN list on the recall notice and my 2017 Petrol Ecoboost isn't on it.
Going in soon for a 30k service, will ask then. |

Last post about this was in January 2020. It's now June. We've a 2017 diesel and that recall shows on the car's Ford Record. But no call from Ford. Should I be worried?

Ford release their campaign notices in batches to avoid overloading of bookings across the dealer network, but there is nothing stopping you booking it in with your local dealer and having the campaign completed prior to receiving any notification. Usually they are sent out in alphabetical order, so I am guessing your surname night be towards the back half of the alphabet?

Thanks GTLegend. Yep, S.
Can't be urgent then if they are doing them over 6+ months. Due a service within the next month, so will leave until then. |
