Default AU2/3 dash pad into AU1.

Hi is there any way a dash pad from either s2/3 au can be fitted into an au1? i would like to use the au1 gauge, stereo and the large round panel with the vents, clock.

you can, just swap all ya wiring and that from your series 1 dash pad into the new dash pad

Posted by Xcabbi, Does it slap or rattle? Rattle is more to do with timing chains and tensioners. Slap is more to do with lifters, rings, bearings or GENIII boat anchors

To be a bit more specific, im assuming you are swapping the au fascia piece?

Your right to do so, its one of the worst parts of the au1.

Once you get your hands on your au2/3 fascia piece you will need to go to the wreckers and get the following:

The plugs for each part of the heater unit with ~ 10 cm of wire hanging out the back
au2/3 clock with plug and loom
au2/3 vacuum lines
au2/3 heater cable

Lukily ford has made this rather straight forward. Cut off your old au1 plug and splice in your new au 2 plugs. there should be 3 I think, 2 on heater controls and one for clock. Its easy enough as its all colour coded. You WILL have left over wires. Just tape them up and move on. Now remove your old au1 vacuum lines and heater cable, insert au2/3 vac lines and heater cable. Put all back together and your done!

Upgrade complete :-)
