Default Buying a used FALCON FORTE AU

hi all, just turned 18 and looking to buy a car and i came across a FALCON FORTE AU 1999 thats costing $7999,with 122145kms on it,4 SP AUTOMATIC.

i just wanna know if its a good deal because im not really auto smart so i just wanna see if 8k is worth it all.

hope this is in the right section , oh and what does * Fuel Type: MULTI POINT F/INJ * mean .

Good price good klms. Just make sure it hasn't been king hit. Check panel gaps like bonnet to guard and all important boot lid to quarter panel.

work out firstly how much money u wanna spend on ur first car, just that the XR8 is worth almost twice what u were considering paying for the forte, big gap imo. then work out do u wanna just buy a car and drive it or u wanna do some mods and stuff, consider how much of ur money a repayment on a $8000 loan is gonna differ from a repayment on an $15000 loan. wanna do mods spend a lil less on the car, wanna just get in and drive and be happy with it, spend the extra cash. Im not %100 sure but doesn't the XR8 exceed the max power for a P plater? not sure but just a few things i remember thinkin about when i first bought a car, Cheers.

Also think about insurance costs ... the Xr8 is gonna cost you a packet each year for insurance ... one thing that put me off getting one.

Looks for a Fairmont if you can ... like what HLC has ... just as affordable and with all the extras in it.

if you can spend up to 14000, go for a AU 2 or 3, worth the extra.

Each cylinder has a petrol injector point just above the cylinder intake.

Mate you will easy get an AU for under $10000, they are cheap as! The first Forte sounded alright, but maybe aim for a series 2 with low kms, that's not out of your reach... good luck though!

I paid 13, 300 for a fairmont au 1. I know its a bit pricey, but it was 1 week before Hurricane Katrina hit the oil fields, and the prices dropped and fuel went up to $1.40 a Litre. My point is, if you can, go for a higher end model, its well worth it if you can afford it. The only downside is my mates say I drive a grandpa car. :

i bought my AU1 forte 1 1/2 years ago for $12,999 though lucky i paid $10,000 on loan and dad the paid the rest as sort of a bday present. (strange i haven't had one since) and it had 132K on the clock which is what you expect where i am unfortunately it's a long drive between towns. i am second owner. had nothing wrong with it just a few scratchess here and there. only now am i experiencing the dreaded left hand side syndrome (no power window on left, left back door doesn't key pad lock)

When did you get your red p's

You should be fine with the V8 if you got it this time last year

AU1 XR8 doesn't exceed the max power for P plater, AU2/3 XR8 does...

He's in NSW. Its a "If the cars a v8 or turbo its out" rule.

Only applies to people who got their red p's late last year

Default Shop around!

You should now pay about 10k for an AU2 or 3 forte, no more! I saw an AU3 for 7990 private sale 2002 model 2 weeks ago in Brissy. It had 156k km but looked clean. I bought mine 10 months ago (Au2 Forte 80k kms for 11k). They are a lot cheaper now. Remember to be patient, good luck. _2:

Nice low k's for a car that age and nice price .. looks good , just be sure to check the things mentioned above by others ... have a good hunt though , i only just recentlly picked up my AUII XR6 VCT (2000 model) for $10,000 in top condition, so there is plenty of bargains to be sought after out there at the moment. ;) - good choice of car for a first car too !
