G'day....Is it true that no RHD V6 TT Ford GT's at all ...Suppose that means that the Mustang will be it...I know it's not the same demographic but a GT350 R would be the closest thing we would ever get to a super car Ford badged ball tearer in the future..and that's highly unlikely apparently...
We're officially a Ford backwater now....bloody sad...
Ah well , underpowered Mustang GT (compared to the old Falcons) with a big engine or a fairly hard to get Focus RS turbo will be it..
N0 right hand drive Ford GT perhaps ever but this might ease the pain one day if they gave us a fleeting bit of consideration AND it has a tiny bit of Aussie content too..

No chance of a right hand Gt, pretty sure they cant be converted either as the body is carbon fiber and aluminum.

I'm sure if you can afford one, you can afford to import one, even if it's just as a track car, which is primarily what it is.

But I wonder if that engine will fit into another car.

Why would they bother with a RHD, when they are only producing 1000, yet have 8000 people with cheque books ready to buy one. They only built the road car so the Le Mans car is legal. Oh and at $500k USD a pop, you could buy any two of a Ferrari 488 GTB, Lamborghini Huracan, or McLaren 720.

Having said that, it is a sexy looking car and seems to have the performance to match the looks. Only consistent criticism at the moment is that it's a little too hardcore for the road. Hopefully Ford keep building similar things in the future which may eventually come to Oz (not like it's any fun to drive on our roads anymore with stupid drivers and even stupider law enforcement, but that's a whole new conversation).

However, unlike those three aformentioned cars, the Ford will hold its value and increase.

My favourite quote:
"The Ford GT is quick, of course. Purists may have decried the decision to go with a smaller-displacement twin-turbo V6 rather than a big, naturally-aspirated V8, but frankly the latter woudn’t have fit in the car. If it comes down to choice of compromising on “tradition” or not having the GT exist at all, I know what I’m choosing. Really, though, the V6 versus V8 argument is gloriously irrelevant."

I'm not sure they were that unreliable.

Yeah...the previous GT isn't known for poor reliability...not sure what he is on about.

I might be wrong here (and I assume people will correct me), his car wasn't unreliable as such, more so the required after market alarm/immobiliser.

That's about it......

Driving
The Sunday Times, October 02, 2005
By Jeremy Clarkson

The first three weeks of Ford GT ownership were not happy. Its alarm went off constantly, the anti-theft tracker cried wolf every five minutes and the satellite navigation system caused the engine to think it might be a dishwasher of some kind. So I sent it away and demanded my money back.
This didn’t go down well with the readership of The Sunday Times. Every day my in-box was choked with more and more missives from angry people saying I’d been too rash, that I’d waited 40 years for this car and shouldn’t have given up because of some small electronic glitches.

You were right, of course, so I’m delighted to say that it’s back, sitting in my drive looking all blue and huge.

They’ve fixed the alarm by winding down the sensitivity of the sensors. Now you could host a show jumping competition in there and the siren would remain mute. They’ve fixed the tracker by turning it off. And I don’t know how they fixed the sat nav, but whatever they did it only lasted a mile before the engine warning light came on again.

Who cares? This sort of thing is bound to happen on a car that’s right out there at the technical limits of what’s possible. The mistake I made before is thinking the big Ford could be an everyday car, and it can’t. It’s for when the sun is shining and the roads are quiet. It’s a car for high days and holy days.
