7 litre V8 in a stang would get me to look at one, if they do one and if they have opened their eyes and seen us aussies worthy enough sending them down under

It's either going to be that or a twin turbo 5.0 as shown in the Cobra Jet concept. Not sure why they wouldn't do a Twin Turbo 5.2 FPC.

Pretty sure they dropped the idea of twin turbo, and it will most likely be a supercharged 5.2 but with a cross plane crank. Should make at a minimum 700 hp. Actually considering the Ford Racing supercharger kit already makes that it should easily go more. Maybe a couple more than 757 to pass the Demon as most powerful street legal muscle car?
No need to match the 1000hp drag strip only version as it's not street legal. |

455 HP for the Mustang GT and 755 HP for the GT500? That would be 340 KW and 563 KW respectively, if true.

I have read a couple stories regarding the new 7x engine being used in the GT 500.
The 7x will be a 7L V8 to replace the 6.8 V10. I really can't see them using it ,in the GT500, but it would be a cool option. |

GT500 to be a s/c 5.0?
https://drivetribe.com/p/upcoming-mu...SniWItjyEHl46g Disappointed if so. I mean yes it will be a monster but it would have been nice to stick with the VooDoo.

I'd like to see what a DI coyote can do, it's sat there unused since day one.
But I thought they might have saved it for the next NA version. Jim can tell em how well a blown voodoo goes soon.

The 2018 is DI. Actually it uses both DI and port injection. Makes 460hp in US spec with is 25hp up on the previous model.

Wouldn't be too hard, Ford have all 3 of those parts already in the performance catalogue.

After I posted I could vaguely remember a thread where we talked about direct injection stangs. DI and port combined would be interesting to see.

So when Ford brought out the GT350, they made us all think we need flat plane crankshafts. Then they announced the 2018 Mustang GT and showed us they can make the 5.0 V8 rev to 7,500 rpm and put out 345KW. I'm starting to think they might not need the Voodoo to make a great forced induction GT500.

This guy has a clue and normally isn't that far off the mark (for someone kept in the dark anyway) and also does reviews/videos with both eyes open.
Although not a great deal is revealed in this clip, judging from his added excitement I think it will be a track/strip beast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vgPWI4D6FM |

It's happening. 5.2 litre Predator supercharged V8. Most likely cross plane crank and not the GT350's dual plane crank as it's just not needed with a blower.
http://www.fordnxt.com/news/leaked-i...gt500-is-real/ Let's hope it gets built in RHD and they fit the 10 speed to it as an option above a 6 speed manual, to maximise drag strip times and go after the Hellcat. |
