Default is my oil pump on its way out?

hey guys, just recently noticed, when i rev my car hard (to 5500rpm) the oil pressure gauge drops down to the 1 just above the red and i can hear the motors ticking like crazy wen windows down but then it raises up again and it clears up and it sounds fine after about 5 seconds and ive stopped revin it hard, but then wen i rev it out again the oil pressure gauge drops and motor sounds unhealthy till the oil pressure goes back up again (doesnt sound unhealthy for long, only about 5 seconds)... so is the oil pump on its way u reckon?

btw im running a AUTO EDXR6 ecu and everytime i start the car when its cold it revs to 2000rpm and HOLDS it there for about 30 seconds then drops down to idle and never does it wen its warm again only when its cold eg overnight start in the moarning....could this lead to the oil pump starting to fail as as soon the motor start its revving it to 2000rpm...

thanks, any comments would be appriciated

- Grechie

are u sure its full of oil?
at 5000rpm the oil would be getting pumped around the engine quick, may not be leaving much in the sump for the pickup.
just an idea :|

Assuming its full of oil, sounds like your lifters are bleeding down. What oil are you running?

Almost sounds to me like the oil filter is blocked and it is going into bypass mode on the filter, how long since you have changed the filter.

Just An Idea.

2,000rpm from start up is not good (mine, only an EA MPFI, starts at maybe 1,100 rpm). Id deal with that too before the next thread is a serious one.
