LR Focus AC Compressor Cost

Hi everyone, my 03 LR Focus Zetec needs a new AC compressor. I have been quoted $1350.00 from my local auto electrical / air con mob. It seems excessive.

I've had a look on eBay and can get AC Compressor kits for under $250.00 but these are shipped from the US.

My questions are:
1. What kind of prices have people paid for a new AC compressor and regas in their Focus?
2. Is the US Series 1 Focus the same as the rest of the world Series 1 Focus? I know they made a change at some point but not sure when! Would an AC compressor from the US be the same as one from the rest of the world?

Get a quote for the compressor from the likes of Repco and Bursen automotive a shipping from US can be very expensive for heavy items like that

Thanks marg99, shipping from the US isn't ridiculous (under $100) but I'll check Repco.

In other news the car is leaking coolant badly around the water pump. Is this coincidence or is there a chance the water pump was damaged when they looked at the AC compressor?
