I THINK there's a Caltex w/ Vortex in Eight Mile Plains (up from the busway - on Logan road before you hit the freeway / garden city)

No promises though ;)

i remember the vortex 98 used to be the most noticable in the bike (zzr 250) others like optimax wasn't much different in performance to regular.

The Standard Premium is called "Vortex" the equivilant of BP Ultimate and Shell Optimax is called "Vortex 98".

The reason i asked is that I am just running some tests in my Focus (LR Zetec) to see which fuel responds best to both driveability and economy.

So far have only tried Sloptimax and BP Ultimate, and the BP wins hands down.

And Yes, you are right Annerley did have the pumps the other day when i drove through, but they had no fuel in their tanks!

Try some Mobil Synergy 8000. Gotta be one of the best, if not the best 98 octane brew on sale in Aussie.

I've heard people claim to get the same performance from Mobil's Synergy 6000 (96 RON) as they do from Optimax...

Have actually heard Similar. Is Synergy 6000 the "Standard" Premium that Mobil produce? Or is there ULP91, PULP95, Synergy6000-96, Synergy8000-98?
If its the 'standard' PULP,the 'local' mobil @ Aspley has it for only 5c per litre more than ULP!

From personal experience, I feel Optimax98 is overrated as a fuel.

We really are spoilt for choice in Qld Sloptimax or Bp ultimate!

Actually, I think we can get the Synergy 8000 @ the Mobil's near the big BP travel centre's on the Bruce highway... called Mobil Big Fish or something?

No, unfortunately Synergy 8000 is restricted to NSW & Vic, same as Vortex 98 is not up here either (Caltex confirmed it).

Would give it a go, but its not recommended to run fuel with an ethanol content in it... well FCAI says E10 not recommended, but i wont even go with the E5 Optimax100!

FYI, Click on this link for Mobil: and click on Qld, then on the Synergy 8000 icon, shows that of all places it is sold @ Bundaberg Airport, and @ Normanton... Now I cant see too many performance vehicles based in Normanton (on Gulf of Carpentaria), that dont run on diesel... mmm most Bizarre... There is also a downloadable spreadsheet as well...

Flappist, if you are in H'bay, do you get to Bundy Often? If you do, swing by that servo next time (Personally cant see the attraction of going to Bundy, unless getting another whisky barrel)

I know Shell @ Milton on Coronation Drive has it, because I saw the signs which indicated you got an additional 200 fly buys points for filling up with it.

Yes I have been past Bundy Airport Mobil many times and it has never stocked Synergy 8000, I suspect it is mistake on the web site.
Bundy Airport Mobil is a private site owned by Wessel Petroleum who are the Mobil Distributer for this region. If they did have access to 8000 it would be in ALL or their service stations.

Shell Opti 100 is an ethanol product and based on the results I have achieved with Boost 98...... bugger that!!
