One of my foglights has blown a bulb : so down to ford who quoted me $66 for an H11 55w:
Repco was best at $46 & Autobarn only had some fancy blue ones at $160 a pair including park lights. Anyone use any fancy bulbs in there headlights? If so how much & are they worth it? Cheers KJ

I used some of the blue headlight bulbs before and they blew very quickly. I put the ford ones back in and they lasted nearly 3years.

Same as my Focus... I put the fancy blue ones in and the blew very quickly like in 3 months... put the Ford ones back in.... I wanted blue ones again the blew in 2 months... put the Ford ones back in and it finally blew after 4 years....again I had to bite the bullet and bought the Ford ones in and I can't complain.
Well thats my 20 cents worth

The main headlight bulbs (H4) you can get at the supermarket for $7. It's the foglights (H11) which are freakin expensive. WHY???

Not illegal to use fog lamps in VIC they are only illegal if they dazzle people. So I use mine all the time.
Either way KJ I would still buy genuine

I had the xenon halogens in my focus, makes a big difference i think. There is a limit to the brightness you can have legally. Mine have been in there for 2 years and they havent blown once. They are a phillips brand cost a fair bit but well worth it

My headlights are $25 white-white bulbs (the bulbs have a blue tint) no-names from Supercheap; they've lasted longer than the factory fitted Ospram ones.

hmmm........
before i got the HID's i used bulbs that had a blue tint, but they werent very bright........yes they are bright when you LOOK at them but they don't shine as far as the yellow of halogens. I did a lot of research before converting to HID, (according to many websites which i now forgot) because you changed the colour of the headlight, the distance it shines is reduced while the brightness increases (if you know what i mean??) So yeah just some random information i guess.......... |

Careful with cheap bulbs that they've got a UV cut filter built in - otherwise the light lense (if plastic) will go yellow.....
www.powerbulbs.co.uk are a cheapish place to buy globes with free shipping. They sell Philips too.

I was under the impression that with the full bumper to bumper ford warranty, that if you blow a bulb, take it in to ford, and they'll replace it for you?!! Thats what I was told when I asked what the warranty covered...of course, it could be that most sales dudes will say whatever pops into their little minds to get a signature on the dotted line I spose

I think if you read the small print, you'll find small things like bulbs aren't covered. Worth trying it on though I suppose, but you'd have to get the same guy. I have a mate at Repco who got me the bulb I wanted for $30.

One way I got a free bulb was took it in for a service at Alto Artarmon with a blown bulb. When I came to pick it up the bulb was still blown. I went back in with the service manual, pointed at one point on the checklist which was "Check all lights and indicators".
