Default Steering malfunction

Wondering if anybody else has had or heard of somebody having a steering malfunction in a focus? The car in question is a current generation model with 30000km on it. I did a quick google search and have found examples from around the world where the pump ceases to operate due to an interrupted power supply.

power steering is electric on them, so first check you do not fluid leak as they do not usually service the fluid level because the tank is below the front guard and you have to remove the headlight to even see it.

It's a dealership loan car that my wife was driving after they crashed hers while it was having warranty work done on it. Could have caused her death if it would have happened another 200m up the road.

What exactly do you mean by "malfunction"?

A better description may help..

I wasn't in the car at the time but according to my wife the steering locked up and a steering malfunction message appeared on the dash

Looks like it could become a recall issue if this is anything to go off, it's not an isolated incident :(

Looks like its not isolated to the focus either. Took about 10 seconds to find a complaint from a fusion owner. I wonder if we have an australian version of that site?
