Default Big blitz in dandenong next friday 20th

hey guys just heard through a mate of mine that there will be a huge blitz in the dandenong area next friday so stay well clear of the place if your car is modified or unroadworthy.

roads like princess hwy, cheltenham rd sth eastern fwy and the eastern will be heavilt patrolled.

they will be doing the lot, reg check, rw checks, drink/drug driving and general handing out of traffic fines.
there will be about 200 cars out that night

the cops reckon they will hit it harder than ever before between 4pm and 11pm but im sure it will go for longer

my source is a mate who knows a cop so its fairly reliable

No surprises there. They've been going nuts for weeks. Last week I was out in that area and had a cop start harassing me and looking over every little bit of my car. In the end he let me go, but said if I hang around I'd be getting a canary for uneven wear on the front tyres, a slight oil leak, and a bit of play in the drivers seat. Now every EA-ED seat I've looked at has just as much play as my seat, EAs leaked oil from new so to get a 19 year old EA not to leak oil is a massively difficult and expensive procedure (none of it hits the ground anyway), and I replaced my ball joints in 07' in the hope it would stop wearing my front tyres unevenly and it still does it. I've had that many wheel alignments, and replaced all the suspension bushes. It's all stuff that I can't really help, so needless to say I'll avoid the highway on Friday/Saturday nights from now on

Judging by what I hear driving around here usually - they should catch a few.

Almost got done for speeding on the Dandenong bypass - might have been about 5 km/h over, looked in the rear vision mirror and he started pulling out ..... to get the next car.... which was an early model Camry. Probably what bothered me most is that despite him sitting at the top of the hill on the centre median near Eastlink in clear view, it only registered with me when it was too late. Regardless of speed, I was focusing on too narrow an area ahead of me.

They got 250 cars the other week

This is the best revenue raiser ever that I agree with as idiots still have cruises to Noble Park Maccas and think its cool.....

We all know what happpened with it gets too big and out of hand.....so if your around that area to be "cool" and get done take it like a man instead of crying that the cops picked on you........

We had a legit reason for being there. The girls with us needed to use the toilet. We weren't there to cause trouble, and once we were done, we were going to go. In all honesty, with all the picking on modified cars, it wouldn't surprise me if there were more riots. Street racers, sure, go nuts on them, but everyone who cruise at the speed limits, not causing any trouble, just leave us alone!

Simple, you lower your averages of being picked on if you dont drive along Princess Highway or go to Noble Park Maccas at night, mainly Friday and Saturday Nights.

If you need Maccas then they have like a billion stores in Victoria, I am sure there are other Maccas ppl can go to..............

there was a group that for a while thought it was "cool" to hang out @ mcd's carpark here lift bonnets and showoff and just hang around drinking and stuff, cops squashed it so hard it wasn't funny, showed up in force and just threw everybody some paperwork for loitering in a public place. Did this every friday saturday night for 3 weeks, now they don't go there anymore...

It's more about picking on modified cars while the 50 year old in his Camry with blown headlight, cracked windscreen, blowing blue smoke etc. goes by unnoticed

And driving at the speed limit is breaking the law? None of my mods are illegal, and police usually ignore me but I'm annoyed about the way I was treated just over a week ago. Defecting cars because they're modified ftl

but back on topic screw cruising on Friday nights if I'm going to get a yellow sticker because of it.

So the blitz is achieving something positive.

I wonder how much Dandenong's McDonalds is going to suffer from all of this. :(

For those saying that if you don't do anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about - a legally modified car doesn't stop some cops defecting cars. We've all heard how they target people leaving car shows and defect tidy modded yet legal cars but the stock car with rust and broken headlight gets waved through. A guy I worked with - an older guy - had a tidy Charger he had owned for a few years with 265 wide tyres on the rear. Cop defected him for it and he had to get a new RWC - which was a formality. Despite his car being legal when it was inspected, he got defected and it cost him time and money to prove something he already knew. Most people who mod their cars do it right to avoid having to do remedial work on the car, then encounter some over-zealous cop who defects them.

There's one on Princes Hwy just over Power rd so I suppose its really Doveton ..... behind the Mobil.

You blokes that get picked on by the cops around Macca's ..... you dont think its more the case that Macca's is sick of there car parks being used as Friday night meeting points on their property where paying customers can't even get to the drive in? Been driving around for years now with mine havn't been harrassed? What am I doing wrong?

I've owned modified cars for over 10 years now - and I have never been pulled over for all this stuff some of you blokes go on about. Its not like these cars don't stick out either (my last car was a heavily modified R34, never got pulled over). I think your doing something to be noticed.

My thoughts exactly. You can't say that a low red XR8 with a decently sized exhaust and 19's doesn't stick out. I haven't ever actually been pulled over in that yet lol. Even going through booze buses isn't an issue, get a bit of a look sometimes but never anything more.

Well, that's where you're wrong. I'm usually in the same boat as you and Russell where cops don't give my car a second look. That Friday where they tried to get me though, they targeted me while my car was parked. Anyone who knows me will know that I don't do burnouts, and don't drive like a total tool. My car is a cruiser, simple as that. So Russell, drive your low red XR8 with a decently sized exhaust and 19's on the Princes Highway on a Friday night, and stop somewhere along there at some point and I'd guarantee a cop will be looking over your car with a fine toothed comb trying to find any way to hand you a yellow sticker.

Been there, done that never get a second look.

The issue for you though is that there are a lot of tools with P plates that drive E series Falcon's so therefore the Police just put you all in the same bag. How are they supposed to know who you are, what you are like and how you drive? Just because you say so doesn't really cut it to them.

Maybe blame all the tools that cause the Police to react in this manner as opposed to blaming the Police themselves.
