Default Hot hatch poll!!

Ok guys

we r always arguing ( sometimes out: ) abt which is the best hot-hatch. So I thought it wud b interesting to have a poll. Mind you, the winner of this poll is not the best hot-hatch. Its just most popular in this forum

We discuss (or argue...) for the pure reason that there isn't really much of a BEST Hot Hatch. We all have different opinions of what a Hot Hatch should be. Some think it's a all rounder, others think it's something unique, others think it needs to be NA and raw etc etc

To be honest, being a Ford Forum though... the Focus XR5T should win ;)

:
Also, there is no Poll here

People argue alot here because alot of us have a mentality of "My opinion is right so yours is wrong"

Audi A3 3.2 is missing from the poll and that would be my 1st pick. Second would be a Citroen C4 VTS

Not necessarily. I think most of us bought a ford coz thats what v cud afford at the time of purchase OR that was what v thought WAS best at the time of purchase

Things have changed from then and they keep changing.

And yes I agree theres no BEST. All depends on personal pref.

Audi A3 3.2 isn't as polished as the latest R32 Golf (Almost the same car...). Plus, I do believe the Audi S3 is the Audi's Hot Hatch. The C4 VTS is a Warm Hatch. Considering a Fiesta Zetec 1.6L could keep up to one....

And come on - Peugeot 307 Sport isn't much of a Hot Hatch Either. Missing (and extremely good Hot Hatches) include;

Ford Fiesta XR4, Suzuki Swift Sport, RenaultSport Clio 182, Barina SRi, HSV Astra VXR (or is that under Astra Turbo? Because, the SRi Turbo is not as good...), BMW 130iM, Volvo C30 T5, VW Golf R32...

Just to name a few.

Ok I thought i'll limit the poll to just the one class. Fiesta, swift, clio etc fall under a totally different class. Astra turbo is the SRi not the VXR (its price takes it into a diff class). The poll is not by any means exhaustive nor is everyones knowledge. I didnt think I did have to go to exact model names

Prime example of the "My opinion is right so yours is wrong" mentality.

Maybe I just prefer the 3.2 over the S3(Which is just as quick as a 3.2) and R32 and the I like the C4 (and no a Fiesta won't keep up with it). Thats my opinion and you don't have to agree with it

Ouch, man people are touching down in this part of the forums. :

Having never driven any of then I purely vote for the XR5 because I'm currently obsessed with its styling.

I voted for the one I bought.

Money no object, I would have bought a BMW 130i but it's not an option in the poll.

Mini Cooper S

Spanner thrown in works?

Or an Aston Martin, sort of a hatchback.

The Golf GTi, cause I think the interior looks snazzy. It's always the Fiesta owners bickering amongst each other!
It's pretty general (the poll), there'll always be people that compare specs and say which is best. To me, I like the Golf GTi and if I had the money I'd buy one!

Well I’m very happy with my XR5, but if I was to replace it now, and I’m gonna throw in a controversial one here, I’d be looking at the Audi A3 TDI or Golf GT diesel (both have same donk) if they bring it out here. However, If I wasn’t concerned about fuel consumption and the associated emissions, I’d go for the Audi S3 or the twin turbo 130i Bimmer (when it comes out).

Many would argue that a diesel is not worthy of hot hatch status, but the latest 2.0L VW unit puts out a respectable 125 kw and a whopping 350 nm of torque, so it’s no slouch, and turbo diesels respond better to ECU edits than petrol cars do.

But the best bit is the economy – it has a combined (urban/extra urban) consumption of 5.8l / 100 km and a quite incredible 4.5L/100km on the open road. It has the performance of say, a 2.6 litre petrol engine and puts out only the same CO2 / km as a 1.3 L petrol powered car…..works for me.

I voted MPS. I know that 190kw and 380Nm is not the smartest idea in a FWD... But no one can argue with the tremendous straight line performance of the MPS 3.

I like the look of the new civic type R and i'm sure it sounds sweet as, but ultimately it needs more go. Same with the golf gti, nice car... but no power.

I couldn't vote for two. Golf GTi or XR5 Turbo for me, it'd come down to the fact that the XR5 Turbo is just too good value to refuse. Given money is no object in this debate however, I'd still have to settle for the XR5 Turbo for the engine note, the wheels, the Orange paint and the overall styling. MY head says Golf GTi, my heart say XR5 Turbo.

I'd also go for an Audi S3 or VW Golf R32 if they were on the list. Golf GTI is my pick.

If the XR5 had cruise control...

Sorry, I just read the 'money no bar' in the poll, so I assumed the more expensive Hot Hatches should also be included.

These classes - are you talking about Price, Size, Fun or Power?

I'm sorry Piotr - you most definitely are entitled to your own opinion.

I just never thought of the VTS as a Hot Hatch... purely for the fact every review mentions it is 'underpowered'. I just always thought that a Hot Hatch was just that - Lots of power in a smallish hatch. Topgear agree, pleeding Citroen for a 200bhp version!

I can tell you that a C4 VTS cannot get too far ahead of a Fiesta in Hot Hatch Heaven - the twisty mountains :Up_to_som

I'd have to agree with you mate. Diesel cars are getting extremely interesting. I've been in a 120dM (120 diesel with M Pack) and it sure was fun! Although... at close to $65k it had better be!

Hmm

I have not had a closer look at the VXR... but that wasnt an option anyways...

Then I love the idea of the BMW 130i... but thats not an option (and pricey as hell)... 6cyl RWD yummayness... but in reality... it wouldnt hammer through the turns... unless you drove it drifters styles re

I love the Golf... but like the wrxxy has a mario ****er try hard attribute to it... the GTI has an old man thing going with it

The Electric Orange is definitely a head-turned, nearly every person turned their heads to check out what it is. Looks really good in person. But Ford Aus should also bring in the 3-door.

I'd prefer a Golf R32 but since it isn't there, I'd go the Golf GTi. I just think its alittle more refined.
