Hey all. I did a search but I couldn’t find what I really wanted. What’s the best tranny fluid to use on our Transmissions (AU4speed). I’m due to service it and put an oil cooler on so I don’t want the normal crappy everyday stuff.
So any suggestions on the best oil?? |

Transmax Z for an Auto...
not sure about that... maybe a T5 and definitly for a T5Z. I thought for Autos it was TQ95 oil... (i'll just check the net now) From Castrol Website Automatic Transmission CASTROL TQ 95 Automatic transmission fluid specifically developed for BTR Automotive, 4 speed, electronically controlled transmissions, as used in Ford Falcon and Fairlane cars. Will provide smoother, quieter and more consistent gear changes. Service Refill Capacity: 4.0 Litres

OED666, thanks heaps for the pm man. I checked the castrol website too. TransZ is only a fully syn DEXIII. NO good for the 4speed autos in the AU.

DEXIII kills Ford 4-speed BTRs.
You need to run TQ95 or 95LE. I used Gulf Western 95LE every change.

definately want to go with all of the 95 spec fluids (mobilube ATF 95LE (what we use at work), Castrol TQ 95, etc). I think transmax z is a fully sythetic dextron III spec fluid so i would be cautious as mechan1k says.

Ford and many workshops suggest 85/140 diff oil whereas I'm using heavy grade shockproof 85w/250. may be against what people suggest but my diff don't whine and never need to replace the oil.
