Default Looked at a XR8 today...

Looked at a AU XR8 ute today since I am in the market for one. This one was black, 165,000kms, manual, 19" rims, immaculate on the outside, pursuit body kit, extractors, exhaust, tuned, filter and SS induction.

Anyway, the car is a Series one (185kw) and was wondering whether paying $13k for something like that is way too much? I am a bit concerned with the oil pressure too, the gauge reads out full pressure (in the red) - apparently the XR8's do that when tuned but its not causing any problems? Not too sure about that one.

Seems a bit high for a series I, but others may disagree. A Car is only worth what someone will pay for it!

From memory there is an issue with earthing on the series I that caused the oil pressure reading to go spac, someone else will be able to confirm it

13k is waaaaaaaaay too much for a SI no matter the condition. At 165k I would be thinking 10k MAX for it. For 16 odd k you could pick up a late SII or SIII with the 220kw engine.

This is what happens when I am tired, I don't fully read the post. Bugger.

In that case 16k will get you a nice SII/III with a 200kw engine.

My budget is pretty much around the 14k mark. I was thinking it was too high and was going to offer 11k, but I might offer even less! Not many XR8 manuals in NSW atm :(

Not looked at them of late, but 16k got me a very good condition series 3 ute 3 years ago.

I should imagine it's possible to get them for less now, but as I say, I've not actively looked.

Pricing of AU XR utes fluctuates wildly. When I was looking for mine back in late 06 the cheapest AUII/III ute I could find was 19k. Mine was at the cheaper end of the sedans at 17k.

Utes always pull a premium over the sedans too.

AU3 Super cab V8 Manual 188k - $8k

AU2 Super Cab V8 Auto 160k - $8.5k

AU2 XR8 Super Cab V8 Auto 208k - $10.5k

AU2 XR8 Super Cab V8 Auto 188k - $11k

.. and a whole heap more. The ask seems to be around the 11k mark for thebulk of them although there are clearly some dreamers out there.

^^As above, 13k no way! Id offer around the $8500.

But Russell makes a good point, utes do hold there value well. One reason being is that tradies get the tax incentives etc.

Have you seen some of the prices XG/XH and even XF's go for, its crazy.

XD V8 utes on the other hand, now there is a nice rig : /plug
