Well, out of 17,000 odd votes, the FG Falcon got a clear win!
http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-of-t...er_ford_falcon The attached story did seem to give the impression that any other car won except the Falcon. But that is typical of the usual Carsguide bias against Ford. Luckily the numbers were provided. The FG got a tally of 2100 votes. The win was by also recorded by both male and female demographics. Perhaps, ironically, the SIDI VE got the family car award. So, does this mean that people view the FG Falcon as more than just a family car?! Ford Fiesta also gained the People's Choice "First Car" award. http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/gal.../3/3/828/49850

That's the second year running that the FG Falcon won the peoples choice award. The G6E Turbo won it in '08.

As long as it sells well and does more private sales with better profits cars guide can bag it all they want.
Mind you they did give it COTY award last year.

Clearly shows why this is the best Falcon ever.
I'd say the Commodore got family car because of the sportswagon? This Falcon is why me, a Holden boy joined the Ford forums. Great car. |

No V8's or forced induction cars allowed at all. Even a SMart four-two, turbo 1l engine is illegal. SIDI SV6 is a bit quicker :P. |

From the magazine tests that have not been done yet? From actual racing, that you have not done because you don't have either car? From fully sic and hektic dudes at Uni who also have never actually driven either of the cars but got their truth from other fully sic and hektic dudes on the internet? Or are you just peddling the bogan lore.......red always beats blue.... |

no need to fight chaps. Either way, its fairly close. If Ford decide to add direct injection on its next 4 litre update-it will be hideously in Fords favour again, lol.

It's great to see the voting/buying public are leaning toward the falcon. Just needs to translate into sales.

I wouldnt be surprised if both cars were about on par these days. Anyway if we're talking peformance, you would just go with the turbo anyway. |

My vote is that the XR6 is still a little quicker, one of my mates has got a SIDI 6 speed manual, and it doesnt seem that fast.
Either way though I would still take the XR6, alot better car. But anyone else notice the wheels on the G6 in the picture? Are they new or have I just never seen them before?

Yes in the Motor magazine test, the SV6 was quicker by 0.1s to 100kmh. IIRC it was 6.7s which is the driver only. Wheels magazine had the XR6 as quicker by 0.15s to 100kmh. IIRC the Falcon lost just 0.5s with an additional passenger, the Commodore slowed by 0.75s. If both cars had more than half a tank of fuel the XR6 will be quicker, everytime. Torque is what counts. As for the actual cars. The VE's we have at work, are umm ordinary. That awful blindspot too...Ugh. Certainly no improvement in performance or driveline refinement over my AU XR6. The FG, just like my neighbours. I would jump at the chance to fang it!

Yesterdays CarsGuide had a tiny little thing from Gover saying the Falcon had won people's choice. It was about the size of 2 postage stamps, and it was printed next to a whole page of talk from him about how good the Cruze hatchback is going to be. :
Was like he had gone out of his way to hide it, and to make sure he had a lot of Holden propaganda on the opposite page so maybe people wouldn't notice it. |
