ph33r the Taranis
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-0...tralia/5242636 Recently had its first "substantive" test flight right here in Oz (Woomera). Video is in the link above. I reckon the RAAF should get a gaggle of these!

Countries like ours with a massive landmass but a small population and small military need things like this (if the yanks let us have them...remember Australia not being "allowed" to have the excellent F22 when we were shopping around for a new fighter?). Remember way back during the riots in Indonesia quite a few years ago, that they "mobilised one division of the army to maintain order"...and that one division was larger than Australias entire number of military personnel if you added up all our soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Bit worrying.
We need something for an advantage, relying on technology rather than outright numbers...just in case. I think most of the public know why... |

This plane is built by BAE, even has some design work done by BAE Australia. So it's British, not American.

We should get some of these, ditch the JSF and buy the PAK-FA Sukhoi instead.

I always reckon with these new devices, Taranis is the visible portion of a somewhat more bizarre unseen technology. IOW, they only lets us see what they want us to see or believe.

Like the RQ-170's bigger, badder brother. Possibly a hypersonic bomber too..
