Good evening
Following on from a member suggestion and my earlier comments when we disbanded the previous reputation system, I am pleased to announce a new recognition system for AFF members. We have kept it simple. There are 5 awards in total (detailed below) of which only 2 can be nominated by the user base, 2 can be nominated by moderators / super moderators and the final one is chosen by me. The awards (along with their short descriptions), are: Technical Contributor (user nominated) For members that share their technical expertise with the forum community Valued Contributor (user nominated) For members whose non technical contribution is worthy of recognition Technical Writer (Admin nominated) For members that provide technical articles for the forum Community Builder (Admin nominated) For members whose contributions help build the AFF community Chairman's Award (not nominated) For members whose efforts in support of the forum are outstanding. During the initial phase we have restricted the user groups that can nominate while we bed the system in. Those who can nominate (DM's currently) will have two additional menu items on the user profile drop down, one for each category they can nominate in. This will generate a form where they can state the reason they believe the individual should receive the particular award and these forms are sent via PM to the admin team for approval. If approved, the user will receive a PM advising them of the award but not who nominated them. It will take a little time to iron out any bugs in the system but you can already expect to see some users with BLUE tags in their user profile representing their award(s). Cheers Russ

Ah, makes sense! It's not so much a rep system, but what type of contribution a member makes. In that case, thanks to the admin team for mine (assuming it wan't a "glitch") - I am certainly here to beg, borrow and steal other's ideas and knowledge, so I try to give some back too!

The awards system is a good setup. Everyone I have seen so far with an award in there user profile bit has deserved it. I have been on here for a while now and love it, a great bunch of people and the fordforums are the first page I load whenever I am on the computer.
Keep up the good work everyone!

What a great idea, seems alot more effective than rep at gauging someones know how.
Can you have more than one 'title', say Valued Contributor and Technical Writer?

Sorry to be a pain Russ
It allows me to get to the next stage and after I hit submit for the award I get the following message "A required field is missing. Please fill in all fields." This was for an attempt at nominating some people for a technical award Another thing, when I right clicked on someones name for the nomination it didnt prepopulate the award nomination with the persons user id. I had to do that myself. |

That's my fault - I took a field out of the form that fairly redundant but the form obviously is set for all to be mandatory so I need to find where that is coded and remove it.
Cheers Russ

Should be fixed now - I forgot to retest the form after removing the redundant question but I've amended the code and tested it now.
Cheers Russ
