Default 99 laser lost key

My daughter has lost her key to her 99 laser. What does she need to do to obtain a new key. She has a spare one cut but is not chipped so only good for unlocking car. What options does she have? If she takes in key to a Ford dealer can something be done. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Whereabouts is the car, may be cheaper to contact an automotive locksmith. Cheers MD

Definately auto locksmith. The good ones can cut a new key and program it to the barrell, or vice versa. Not sure how they do it but they'll pair everything up.

You need a key with a chip for starters, then you need to get it cut. In some instances you may actually need two chip keys for the immobiliser to work.

You may be able to get a key cheaper but the genuine keys are usually around $180, Jeffersons have them on special for $140 odd. Part number UJY3762GX.

After speaking to a local specialist locksmith two keys and new transponder are required. He is saying about $900. He pays a bit for original keys. But due to the daughter finding key in washing machine l have an idea. If I cut the head of the remaining key off and jb weld it up behind the ignition barrel cover the non chipped keys will work. Thoughts. Considering the car is probably only worth the replacement cost of keys.

has to be a cheaper option than 900. sorry I do not know it but 900 is a rip off, curious as to why you would require 2 keys, especially in 1999
