This thread is to gauge everybodies opinions on mens facial hair.
Do you have a beard? If not, why not? I do have a beard. My fiance said it's an epic beard actualy. The people I encounter during everyday business who do comment on it have varying opinions. Some guys say no matter how hard they try they cant grow one - positive. Others outright question my character based on my beard alone - negative. Another common question I receive is whether I am some kind of convert to Islam, a "Cat Stevens." Europeans have long worn beards. I will give the well known example of the Vikings. So why do so many Aussie's dislike them? Is it only that they've tried growing one before but without success?

I cant go past 7days without shaving as it itches like mad!
Beards tend to make us look older too. Plus i think there is the "stigma" of men with beards just look untidy, specially if its a long one.

I need to shave every 3 days and that's pushing it. Should prob do it every 2nd day but I hate shaving. The longer I hold out, the better the shave.
I did got for around 6 weeks without touching a blade once while traveling. Wanted the whole 'wild man' look while in the wilds of Mongolia. First week was a nightmare... itchy, annoying, uncomfortable. Once it started to get a little long it was easier to live with. I wouldn't wear a beard for 2 reasons. 1, I find them uncomfortable and 2 the wife doesn't find them all that 'appealing'. |

I only shave my beard because of school. In the holidays, no one recognises me! Being an Arab, i've had a full beard since 15!

I'm almost 28, and I cannot grow much...only growing the hair on the side, and have the hair around the mouth...
All I have is hair under my lip...I call them facial pubes. One of the ladies is insisting that I trim it, but I like it long and unkempt, and what difference does it make to her anyway? I would not expect to be hired by a large global company though due to it...but that's fine. They will never appreciate my intangibles...:P

I used to have a full beard for ten years, a Ned Kelly.Constantly getting knotted, trimmed it down and then got sick of trimming it.Shaved it off for a job and never grew it back,so much easier to shave and makes me look a bit younger anyway.

people are overlooking the subconscios in my opinion.
a beard is a sign of strength , and confidence . women like beards like we like tits , accept , they will never admit it , because they dont want to tell a man how to attract a woman , that is why wives hate them , because girls like rough men who dont give a stuff , although they will never ever ever admit it . dont believe me!! ever seen a bikie have trouble picking up an attractive young female ? |

I have a goatee that I am slowly working on develloping into a ZZ Top tribute.
I have had it ever since before me and the missus become a couple and one night she dared me to shave it off. When I come out of the bathroom she asked if I woudl go and stick it back on. the look of shock on her face was priceless! I have been banned from shaving it off ever since! |

I can grow a bit of thick scruff, but it never gets long enough to go into 'beard' territory. Wouldn't really want one anyway, they look a bit questionable and unkempt in my opinion.

The only people who should be seen with beards are Sea Captains and ZZ Top

I got a goatee, Which I keep pretty trimmed about 10mm long. Though I do need to shave my neck and cheeks every 2-3 days. I have a goatee since about 2005 and don't think I will ever get rid of it, I too attached to it. The missus like it and doesn't want me to shave it all off as I will look to young (I'm only 25yo)

With facial hair I turn from looking like an average Aussie to Afghan bomber in one foul swoop. I wouldn't let me through customs with a week's growth :-)

When I was working I shaved twice a week...I would let it get to "stubble" stage then cut it down.
Back at uni now, so once a week....below my jaw line itches like mad when it gets to long...for some reason it curls there and not above..weird.
