Default LW Focus - Aftermarket Parts.

Although I'm not really a mad tuner/modder with my rides, a little aftermarket goodies to bolt-on (e.g. air filter, CAI, exhaust, ECU) doesn't really hurt, I guess? Just starting up a thread to cater for LW owners (or future owners) whom would like to spruce up their Focus a little.

Note: It seems to be also the same filter cartridge used in the LV Focus. Looks like I'm gonna get this baby off eBay soon

ECU tuning will more then likely lose you your warranty.

Not sure how the ECU for the Focus works, but can it support those piggy-back chips? or the normal way is to flash it. Last time I did it my tuner could reset to the car's factory setting to "maintain" the factory warranty. Never had problems with the dealership

Mate, you can already get these over the net/e-bay etc. It's the same one used in the LV aka Mk2 facelift in the UK.

Weapon R - Secret Weapon Air Intake System

The Secret Weapon Intake was designed, to increase air intake volume to the engine. The concept is to create two different air velocity profiles, one traveling at higher speeds than the other. This technology increases air volume and speed to the engine, which naturally feeds the engine 3x more air than the conventional air intake system. The intake pipe is bent out of high quality 6061 Aluminum on our Automated CNC mandrel bender. Polished to a high show quality finish. The SW1 Air filter features a tuned velocity stack to increase velocity and decrease turbulence. Only Comes In Polished. 1 Million Mile Limited Warranty Open pore high density re-usable foam

It's great to see the aftermarket goodies coming through. Not entirely convinced about the CAI. I'd like to see a pic of it installed before I'd even consider it. I would hope that theres some sort of shielding from the engine bay.

In some cases putting on a CAI could see you going backwards as far as power is concerned. I'm in the process of getting my wife's forester tuned and theyve changed the design of the air box a fair bit, and tuners have found that what would previously be a gain in power with a CAI, is now a waste of $500 or so.

.. okay, I'm probably gonna ask a dumb question. How do you remove the stock air-box cover to change the air filter element? I can't seem to get it open. I did see 3 hexagon-shaped plastic looking nut/screw but since I don't have a ratchet, couldnt test if that will loosen. Any ideas? Haven't owned a Ford prior to this so not familiar with this configuration. Thanks!

If it's like the LV, and from what I can see it is, loosen the hexagon-headed screws in the top of the airbox lid and simply lift the lid off. The top of the filter is actually the right-hand side of the airbox.

Here's some progress shots of a K&N install.
