Default LSD or Standard Diff?

Hi all,

I;m changing the diff oil soon. How do I tell if it's lsd or not?

It should say on the id plates under the bonnet shouldn't it?

Which one of the codes would identify it?

MODEL ENGINE TRANS RRAX

FTAX TRIM PAINT BRK

GVM kg GCM BUILT

From my thinking, its either the RRAX or FTAX code. That sound right?

i couldnt tell you by looking at codes..
but if you jack the car up from the diff and spin one wheel, the other should rotate the same way.. this is LSD
if you spin the wheel and the other is rotating the opposite way, its a single spinner..

if you do that, maybe we could make some sence of the codes?

If it is an LSD diff there will be a metal tag hanging around the plug saying that it is a High Performance LSD and requires LSD oil. If it is a standard diff there will be no tag around the plug.

I'll check for tags!

I'll ring Ford too, just to see if I can make sense of the codes!

Thanks fellas!

The mechanic who is doing it should be able to tell u if its lsd
Another easy was it to let her rip hehe.
Just jack her up and see if both wheels spin the same way.
What about if u have a LSD centre on a single wheeler?
im guessing u would use lsd oil.

Checked it out, no tags, Ford confirmed no extras on the car.

Standard oil it is.

Probably not OzfordAU

All V8 and VCT XRs had LSD. HP XRs up to June 2001 had LSd. HPs after that date had it optional.

the odds of finding an LSD on any non XR or non Tickford are remote at best.

Well, thats one good selling point for my car then!

Also, FYI, if you do a search, you will find about 1 month ago, someone asked the same thing and I answered it with pics too. Just easier then a posr and waiting for a reply.
