This issue decided to rear it's head on Friday night (was fun driving half way accross the city with the passenger having to hold the door shut so it doesn't fly open).
Basically the rear right door lock is stuck in the "open position". It won't latch shut. Is this a actuator problem or a door lock problem? Is it fixable or a replacement necessary? Anyone experienced this before? I have pulled off the door trim but the sound deadening material (or whatever it is, keeps water out?) seems to be very hard to remove without completely butchering it. Any help much appreciated as I cant drive the car until I have this sorted.

Actuator and lock mechanism are all in the one unit. Best to get a replacement one as soon as you can. I got a new one ... as getting a 2nd hand one from a wrecker was a little too risky ... especially with age ... it may do the same thing again in a short period of time.

You sure the rubber along the door and the body haven't come loose not allowing the door to shut?

I think about $120-ish (from memory) ... with the jump loom to plug into the AU (as the ones for sell are B-series actuator/lock mechanisms ... just has a different loom on them.

Regardless I ended up just takin it down to the local bloke to have a look at because as I said I need a car for work and didn't have the time to spend half a day on it myself. He pulled it apart and said a spring got stuck/jammed so fixed it and put it back together and it's working like a treat now $60 later. Pretty happy with that!

The one I got from Ford was a B-series actuator as they don't make AU ones anymore ... and they supplied the loom plug too as it was different from B-series to AUII ... when i swapped it out ... the plugs were definitely different.
