Default Coolant Problem

my car is really confusing my and i need some help

i own a 96 ef futura, bought it in november last year and have had no problems with it, has 120,000 k's on it.

the problem is the car seems to be drinking a lot of coolant.

my mate is a mechanic so we put the car on the hoist to look for leaks and we checked the car right over and could not work out where all the coolant was going because there were no leaks.

i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what it could be.

I hate to tell you this Scollis but if there are no external leaks then it is the head gasket.

Just because the oil isn't milky doesn't mean the head gasket isn't gone. Check the spark plugs for any coolant on them.

Mate, if the outer part of the head gasket blows on the exhaust side, the coolant is simply turned into steam as it exits through the hot exhaust.

+1 for head gasket.
