Hello everyone. Firstly, Laminge has given me permission to do this, just in case there is some confusion.
Basically, in Sydney, or have ever driven in Sydney, chances are, you would have used Pennant Hills Road, or as it is otherwise known, Metroad 7. This is a major arterial route within Sydney's Western Suburbs, with many residents using it daily, as well as businesses and public transport relying on it. The reason I am doing this is because I am studying the effects of the road on its users, residents and the environment, as well as people's usage of the road. I am doing this as a part of my Senior Geography Project, which is something all NSW HSC Geography students do, or so I am told by my teacher. The survey isn't long, and hopefully not too invasive, but you are not obligated to do any of the questions in it. In order to submit your answers to me, I think the best option is via PM. Just reply with the question number and your answers as follows: 1. A* 2. A, B, C* 3. G: Terrible* 4. I: Children playing cricket on the roads.* ... 13. N/A* 17. 7/10.* Where Q2 allows multiple responses and 3 and 4 include answer's like "Other, please specify." Q13 is an unanswered question and Q17 is a 1-10 scale. Q1 is normal. This is just a guideline, if you can think of a better way, go for it. I am hoping that I will get some responses from many different points of view here, as if I were to limit it to people who live around my area, it's all going to be just people who drive the kids to school, etc, and the results would be biased. Thank you for your time if you participate, and thanks for looking if you don't!

Without going to deep into your survey ...it's a cow of a road it needs much work to handle the current traffic.
Grew up in Syd back in the late 70's 80's it was bad now its worse. the only time you can drive on it safely is at 4am.

Its a nightmare - even worse on weekends.
They need to extend the F3 straight over the top of it to link up with the M2. This would drop travel times massively.

As for a link with the f3 over the top the plan is to build a tunnel under the road linking the f3 with the m2. Whether it ever actually happens though. And the lower part needs to be widened desperately. Cheers Jase. P.S. I will do your survey hopefully tonite when I have a bit more time on my hands, and I am not doing uni work at the same time as browsing AFF.

I can remember My father in the early 60's cursing this road, I do not believe anything will improve it. There has been road works (repairs/widening etc) going on for years did fill out you questionaire but had no where to send it to, basically I think the road is *.~#####$&*( and will never get any better I only use it when I have to only use it 1 to 2 times a year

I'll do the survey when I get home. But yeh Pennant Hills Rd. is bad, I witnessed a major accident on Copeland Rd/Pennant Hills Rd. intersection... it happened literally right in front of me.
Flowers & crosses were up the next day. |

That whole area is a car park. Should be better since the M7 takes most of the trucks, but in the afternoon peak, Epping station to Thompson' corner is a car park. The first day I drove up to Carlingford High School in 1999 I was surprised that there was no pedestrian bridge, (they are still waiting). The kids crossing the road contributes to slowing the traffic flow. That area gets NOTHING from the Labor state government because it is a safe Liberal seat. The public facitlities in that area (and the whole Hills District) are appalling, there are none. No public hospitals, no decent swimming pools, athletic tracks etc, yet those who live there talk it up no end.

I used to live in sydney and use Pennant Hills rd all the time, am mighty glad I no longer live in Sydney and have to face that road it is a huge disgrace. Over a few years I lost count of the amount of accidents that I witnessed there.

I've never actually seen Pennant Hills Road because the gaps between the cars are not wide enough.

Yes what you are saying about the p-plate thing is true. It is entrapment, it is illegal to wear p-plates when you are not a p-plater and it is illegal for p-platers to drive turbo cars (in most circumstances) but that does not stop it happening at the northern end of pennant hills rd. I have also seen said blue xr6t with p-plates booking cars at the lower end of the f3 a couple of times.
All I can say though is at least the road is still decent quality, although give it 12 months and it should be on par with parramatta rd. Then there is a road to complain about. :P

Man , I was lucky.
Early 80's I lived just off Blaxland Rd Eastwood and had my shop in Blacktown , that meant travelling opposite to the peak hour Mobile Parking Lot . From when I left home till I got to work there was just a continual line of traffic , seems like it hasn't changed . Accidents ? hardly a week went by without seeing a bad one . Vary narrow dangerous road .

I live just near it & my school was just off it, I've had 3 jobs on it & used to use it every day for another but really don't find it too bad apart from the speed cameras & too many trucks, usually taking up 3 lanes doing the worlds slowest drag race but maybe I'm just used to it. I think Parramatta Road is the worst in Sydney it's probably our main road but it's an absolute goat track.

If you have a choice get out of the rat race. I drove down the F3 to Sydney twice last week and couldn't believe the madness on the roads. I've driven on some insane roads in Europe/Pomgolia but fair dinkum, we have such a massive country and I can't believe why nearly 4 million people all want to live so close to each other!!
