Gidday all,
There's probably a thread somewhere about this already but I'm buggered if I can find it,so here goes. My LCD digital odometer/info display has died(works-but just not lit),and I want to fix it myself. Are these simply backlit with a small led/bulb like the other dials/controls? And are they easy to change? I can see what looks like 2 small screw caps on the top underside of the instrument cluster housing/cover.Is it simply a matter of popping this out and fitting a new bulb-or is there a bit more to it? As there aren't any obvious removal points on the cluster housing/cover I don't want to go pulling on any part that isn't supposed to come out...you know what I mean! Appreciate any pointers  |

there are 2 small bulbs at the back of the cluster just replace them

The two screws you talked about are all that hold the cluster in but it can sometimes be a bit hard to get out, if you pull too hard you might break the perspex cover. It tends to get snagged on the material of the dash. Run a thin screwdriver around the sides to help loosen it a bit.
Lower the sterring wheel is a help too. Once its out unplug the wires from the back and thats it While you have it out check ALL the bulbs, you will probably find more than one will be out or at least blackened. Check all warning lights and the backlight illumination bulbs as well For a few dollars more it will save doing it again in a few months. Also my Ford dealer had to order the bulbs in specially. |
