Default FPV questions

I was just wondering what year or serial numbers were the last fpv's built by prodrive and are they better than the cars that were coming out of ford.

Also like with the shelby mustangs the first 200 odd cars in 1967 were built at carrol shelby's facility then the car's were being built by ford I know some die hards don't regard these cars as a "real shelby" and wont touch them because they are not considered a true shelby car.

Do you guys think the same might happen with certain FPV'S like the cars built by prodrive will be more valuable than the later cars built at the ford factory,I know this not the case with gt-f's but could this ever happen with FPV falcons the prodrive era car's will be more sought after.

FPV closed in the later part of 2012 I think?

I think you might be right re the FPV built cars being more exclusive ...

2003 FPV changed from Tickford.

The 65-67 Princeden/ Lax hanger facility built Shelbys have always been the most popular body styles anyway......Unsold Ford assembled 69 Shelbys had to be renumbered and altered by Ford as 1970 models because they were not even popular back then. I eat humble pie, I know Shelby moved to the Torrance facility sometime in 67 Ford may have taken over assembly around then.

Cheers Mick

Thanks for that, you wouldn't happen to know how many GTPs were built in total by any chance?

Cheers Mick

The last cars built at FPV were the 350 Rspecs finishing up the last week before Christmas 2012. Officially Vixen Rspec 311 was the last to leave before the shut down. A problem with that cars bumper (or something) saw it leave after Rspec 350. They were built in bulk so there were no other cars coming through at that time.

GTP #335 was also built at FPV (based on the spreadsheet you sent me), but that may have been built out of order, making #327 the last built, but not the hgihest build # built at FPV.

All up, from what I can work out, there were 422 GT-Ps built, P1-P10, plus build # 001 through to 412, with the last GT-P # built being #412. 125 Manual, the rest auto.

Hi JC

200 GTP series 1 were produced at FPV. P1 -P10, 1-191
136 GTP series 2 were produced at FPV 192-327
84 GTP series 2 were produced at Ford 328-412

The unit you refer to may have may have started life at FPV but came off Final line at Ford. Unfortunately I don't have VIN number details of the Ford built units to cross check 335 FPV verses 335 Ford built

I think it's fair to say in response to the question on build quality they'd be identical at worst, though the GEP guys did imply early QC might be a bit tighter in the mothership. From all reports so far nothing has stood out one way or the other, all well built cars bolted together by some very dedicated individuals My dear old ute is Oct 12 built and I can tell you it's tight as a drum engine body trim the lot. Sensational build.
