Best Driving Road In NSW - Which one challenges you?

Just a quick poll as to what has been the most enjoyable destination peoples have been on on our cruises or not. Ive only polled the ones I know of but feel free to note any others. :eclipsee_

I say royal national. Nice long flowing corners, excellent signage (no unmarked corners to surprise you) and very quick. I think Isaac will agree with me that this bit of road is simply awesome.

Old pac is nice but way overrated. I didn't rate it very high at all. Springwood is nice just very stop start and macquarie pass has idiots in commadores driving in the dead centre of the road.

None should challenge you as you should be driving the car well within its limits, if you drive it 110% where is the room for error?? There is no chance to catch it if it jumps sideways on you, and all you will do is hit a tree, this thread is not crap and should be discussed on a public forum but without the context of excessive speed.

Change the heading to "Which one satisfies you" and I would be happier.

I like a technical road over going fast, I voted Macquarie Pass. Don't do it on worn NCT5s though or your headlights will become tail lights.

Springwood is just 3 hairpins in sucession. Not really a challenge and corners are hard to judge being blind corners

Royal National Park, apart for 4 or 5 bends, isn't challenging unless your way over the speed limit, and thats not cool. Whats good is that is a long road, and the link road to Waterfall is pretty good. Beautiful scenery. I normally do it once every 2 weeks.

Old Pac is even less technical as the Royal National Park, cept the destination area is sweet.

Never been down Galston Gorge.

mt selwyn to Khancoban to threadbo along the alpine way. remembering to stop at scamells spur.
now that is a real drivers road!
also Araluen to Moruya is a fetchin great piece of dirt track.

I love Nasho cause its close to me and ive done the odd dash through there. The most challenging and fun roads are the Snowy Mountains Highway between Cooma and Tumut (except for the roos), and the Braidwood road from Goulburn to Batemans bay.

voted macquarie pass, it's the best of those roads, most entertaining and easy to enjoy without blasting through the speed limit

also Broke Road off the F3, which is good as long as there's not too much traffic. road surface can be pretty choppy thought.. excellent cafe at the other end too

I like the Bucketts way... Thats a challenge at night, in the rain 20 under! :P

even in the day when its dry, it can get a bit hairy approaching the limit...

(its not in the list, but its one on my list :P)

I second that. The alpine way from Thredbo to Jindabyne is good fun too (in summer)

Mac. Pass :eclipsee_ , Ive done so many runs up and down there, sometimes there were 3 to 4 cars of us, O yes they where the days :sm_headba .

awesome scenery too to stop for lunch and what not....in the summer an din the winter it's still an awesome drive (until it's closed due to snow) but the run th threadbo in the snow is still awesome one of my favourite places to drive in winter.

Snowy Mountains - from Tumut to Cooma to Thredbo to Khancoban to Cabramurra to Mt Selwyn in summer. There is bugger all traffic wide good windy roads....you won't find better in NSW!

I put down the National Park... I think because it still has a sensible speed limit which leads to a fair bit of fun, goes for a while and has changing sceneries which help keep it interesting.

I also like the Putty Rd (not listed), but haven't driven on it for a while.

Old Pac unfortunately is no fun at all with a stupid speed limit and too much enforcement nowadays.

The Galston Gorge/Berowra Waters loop can be a lot of fun, and I want to revisit Ku-Rin-Gai Chase National Park as I remember those roads were intersting.

CobraLeMans rightly points out the road between Braidwood and Bateman's Bay. It's a ripper as I have travelled it again just a few weeks back. Although we're not likely to get down there as it's a bit of a distance to travel in one day.

I went searching for venues for our upcoming photoshoot and went down the road to Mt. Wilson. It's a very challenging piece of road. As is the entire Bell's Line of Road. BLR is one of my favourites.

mate just had a look at braidwood/kings hwy......WOW what a road could anybody give me heads up as to road surface along this route e.g good tar or is it chopped up.......i ride a bike and would like to do that run one day mmmmmmcorners
