Thumbs up My HERTZ Upgrade !!!

The missus and I recently went to Perth. A few weeks prior we had booked a Camry. But when we went to pick up the car, HERTZ said "sorry no CAMRY'S left' but you can have an XR6 at no extra cost. Is that allright ?" is the Pope a catholic ? anyone else had an upgrade at no extra cost??

Years ago the boss had a Camry booked but ended up with a Merc E280. Made the interstate trip just that little bit better.

About 8 years ago booked a ford escort in Canada for $42 a day for a week. Arrived at the desk, '"sorry all gone"'. Demanded a car at original quote price. Got a brand new Vovlo V70. Wonderful car
from hertz as well from memory

I rent cars fairly regularly. Hertz have always done the right thing by me and their prices are generally better than the other big rental firms.

Spoken by a true RWD bogan... as owner of a 20 year old car, you should know better than slagging off something like that when the truth is it'd run rings around your EA on 3 wheels.

Settle down, the Maxima is nothing special. Id rather a XR6 for sure.

The rental price difference between a Camry and a Falcon is like $3 or $4 a day. It would have been a no brainer for me when booking the thing in the first place, so its not much of a big upgrade.

And if you rent a Falcon, over 1/2 of Hertz's fleet are XR6's. So when you pickup the car, you politely ask "Can I swap it for an XR6 please". Easy done.

I haven't driven anything less than an XR6 on my last 10 work trips.

I spend 10 days a month in hire cars. The last 3 hires I have made with Hertz I booked XR6's and got Aurions. There is no comparison between an XR6 & an Aurion for handling - the XR6 just smashes them to pieces.

I'd be interested to see a heads up though, the Aurion would take the cake based on seat of the pants to 100. From a roll on ~80-100, there is no comparison, the XR6 will take the cake from the Aurion and eat it in front of the Corolla kids.

Back on track, with around 120 days a year hire, I seem to only get downgraded :(

I booked a commodore through AVIS in Melbourne. None left when I got there. They said they can get me a camry I think or they have a Saab turbo if I'd prefer the free upgrade. The choice was simple.

Brand new less than 500 k's on the clock. Leather and that new car smell. Pity I only had it for 2 days.

Went to the US of A last year and flew into Greensboro , Nth Carolina *insert southern twang- BIG TIME*
Started sweet talking next thing you know our Laser morphed into a brand spanking new Mustang with 250 miles on the clock- just run in in my book :evil3: .........that weekend we caught up with Marcos Ambrose at Martinsville for his 1st truck race and he couldn't believe we had it.

when we were in L.A for extra $2 per day we went from a small compact car (again think it was Laser) to 4 mth old Jag. not quite free upgrade but bloody close.

I wasn't referring to an XR6 (and have you noticed I do drive a BF XR8) so there's nothing against XR's or RWD... just his blind referral to FWD being crap - he can hardly compare!

XR6's = rental hacks. The only reason they get them over XT's is the resale value on them is higher by percentage

When I was in the states, we had booked a Taurus with GPS for 2 months. When we went to pick it up, they didn't have a Taurus with Neverlost (GPS), so we got Lincoln Town Car, 4.6l V8 auto, instead. That's like being upgraded from a Focus to a Fairlane Ghia. We were very happy!

Haha thats quite funny .. considering on our way to FPV Day 07 we were upgraded from a falcon to a statesman too.

My dad went overseas earlier this year and was upgraded to an E class Merc. Quite a nice car, too bad overnight someone ripped off the merc badge !

My mate had a camry when he was in QLD for work, it shat itself soon as he left the driveway so they gave him an XR6 for no extra cost (even though his work paid for it)

Been upgraded from XR6s to 'Lane Ghia's before, with Hertz. Most of the XR6s are very new too, from Sydney airport.

AVIS upgraded us from a Holden Calais to a Hyundai Santa-Fe once. That was just the last straw for them. After getting very bad VZ Commodores with over 40,000 on the clock and paying more for them, he told them they could stick it. FWIW we managed to swap that Santa-Gay for a Nissan Murano, which was great.
