Default A bolt out of the blue

Yesterday news reports described how a house in Five Dock in Sydney was struck by what appeared to be a bolt from a plane passing overhead. Later I heard the bolt was found to be from a large passenger aircraft. Did anyone get any further updates on this?

Yeah so it was from a 747 or 767 flap mechanism. The time it happened is pretty easy to track. They would have to be able to pin down what flight it was easily. It will be interesting to hear the follow up to this.

Hey max, you seem to have a keen interest in the goings on of the domestic airline industry.... any particular reason?

I fly around a bit. I would classify myself as a nervous flyer. I'm never 100% at ease. I'll be doing a bit of flying in the next few months and I'll be thinking:
Hmm... I hope this ol' jet is serviced & maintained as well as my Fords are. To know that the plane that dropped the bolt was say, from an overseas airline will set my mind to rest a bit. Lets say if it was Air China or JAL I think I would avoid them when I'm booking my tickets.

The bolt came from a Singapore Airlines aircraft...it has a serial number which identifies who owns it.

The rest as they say is being investigated.
