OK guys, have seen a few threads recently re "Sprint" body kits.
see here Click me I have a ED sprint that also has the "sprint kit" fitted from factory. Im kinda ainal re a car being original. I was aware that the front skirt on my car is not a original one (as it does not have the parts on the sides of the front bumper just in front of the wheels the turn up. See in this pic. Recently I have become aware that the rear skirt is also probably not right on my car as the skirt goes under the tail pipe ( dont have a pic on hand). Fibre sports in Sydney sell a sprint kit. If you look at this pic of the rear and side skirts they are also not the same as the factory one (I believe) See Here SSV in Sydney also do a sprint kit but there is no pic on their web page for the rear skirt. AWC also had a sprint kit (I assume the one on my car is this one) that also appears to be not quite right.. Here is the offical Tickford brochure but the rear skirt is not clear. So, after all that rambling... These are my questions... Does anyone have a pic of the rear, side, front skirts of a original factory fit to see how it all sits on the car? (sedan) Is there anywhere in Melbourne that supply a kit that is "exactly" the same as the factory one. (I think there is a mob down Seaford way somewhere but am unsure if it is exactly the same)? When a "Sprint" kit was fitted to a genuine "ED XR8 Sprint" was the boot lip removed and the "Sprint Kit" wing with brake light added? (It seems non XR cars seemed to get the rear wing..) The sprint kit was available on EA / EB also. Is there any difference between them and the ED one.? Any info would be appreciated. |

I too am interested in the differences between all the sprint kits...
Does anyone have some old magazines featuring these cars when they were new?? That would be a good way to determine what they looked like straight out of the factory...

I believe the front you have is the EA version of it.
I've got an old magazine scan of an EA with one, but you can't make out much. |

Braden... No problems mate. That will help off set the price of the kit if I can find one. Need to justify the $$ spend to the wife and that would help. ! :yeees:

haha LOL. Damn good question. Need to wait and see what a new one will cost. I think my side skirts are right but I know the front and rear ones are not.. Will wait and see what reponse I get from the Discovery Center (after the 7th as the main guy is away until then) I have also emailed FPV to see if they have any info.

Tickford kit does not = Sprint kit. The optional Tickford kit was fitted to Falcons, the Sprint kit is unique to the Sprint (Funny bout that :P )

lol oops, my mistake. You learn something new every day.
I can't find a brochure scan of the optional kit, but I did find these. http://www.fordforums.com.au/photos/...cat=729&page=1 http://www.fordforums.com.au/photos/...cat=620&page=1 Now I'm not sure on this, it's just a guess, but was the Tickford bodykit a dealer fit option as well as a factory option? Could the Sprints with the bigger kit have the Tickford kit fitted at the dealer?

BDennis,
I have 4 contempory magazines and Ford's single leaf Sprint flyer here but not one has an image of the optional Sprint kit fitted. At the time I believe it was an exxy ($1500+) option and it didn't really gel with the Sprint ethos. Have you tried contact Ford direct? Lumpy

Lumpy,
Thanks for that. I have not seen any other sprints with a body kit on it. I have emailed Felicity at the discovery centre and she has passed my email onto a Ford guy for more info. He is on leave at present to am just waiting. I will post an update when I get a response. I must admit. I kinda prefer the subtle front and rear skirts that are on mine compaired to the Factory "Sprint Kit" but will be interested to find out if option 3C - "Sprint kit" that is listed on the records (from Ford) for my car is any different. I guess it is possible that someone has added this one after market and the 3C - Sprint kit is in fact just the option that adds the extra "Sprint special bits" to a "sprint: such as trim, mechanicals etc etc. Lisa, Did yours come from factory with a body kit or have you (or previous owners) added it? Would like to see more pics... Another way of looking at it is. It would be interesting to see what is listed on the ford records for other sprints as far as options. You can request a letter from Frod at any time to get this data. Mine has the following options: Model Code: 18335 - ED ford Falcon XR sedan Engine Code: T - Sprint 5.0 litre Trans code: K - 5 speed floor manual Paint code: F3 - Polynesian green Trim code: G2 - Chaser cloth Options: 3C - Sprint Kit <<<<<<<<< this is the one I question 40 - Air conditioning 81 - 1200KG tow pack build date March 1994 Any other owners got a letter from Ford? |

I have put this kit on my Sprint. My other one had it on & was the original one .... so I knew what I was looking for as far as this new girl was concerned.
Will be sending my request to Ford soon as I can as Im curious to a few details about her ....... The kit mine had on it was the same as yours .... all bar the side skirts .... she had none at all ;( |

Lisa,
Hmm interesting. I must take a better pic of the back of mine to show how the back one is. So on your old sprint. It had front and rear skirts but not side ones? I guess it is possible that the previous owner of the old one damaed them. If you have the data (body number and SIDO number from your old sprint you could request the data on that one also just to see. It does not cost anything.... Just curious I guess... |

OK ... my slackness has subsided :P
Heres some piccys of my girl ........ These were taken when we were down for the RAID ..... The side skirts are NOT on in these piccys as they hadnt arrived as yet ...... In saying that you dont need a piccy of them as yours are as should be ;) Also your rear skirt is the same as the one I have been able to get .... the true Sprint ones are harder to get than hens teeth ..... trust me I have tried ...... If I can find one to put on my girl I will .... same goes for the bootlid spoiler ..... mines only the Bobtail one the same as yours ....... The front lip on yours is the same as the one that this Cobalt Girl had on her when I got her ........ Im pretty sure it is the XR lip as suggested before ... It is the my current Sprint that was missing these bits ..... My old one actually had them all ....... Hope this helps a little more ;) |

what is the difference in the bootlid spoilers? I know there is the XR bootlid spoiler, the SVO spoiler which was longer, the brock spoiler which was on a shaper angle... How was the sprint spoiler different to the XR one??
