No mate, the XR8's didnt have alloy heads, they had ported gt40p cast heads.
The T series cars had alloys, they are a rare beast, and not very common, only in 220 spec, series 1 and 2, then they switched to the cast ported heads aswell.

Default cheers

Thanks mate, any reason why i shouldnt buy an au11 over an au111 xr8,
The car im looking at was optioned with the au111 body kit, i think its a au11 rebel and is a 220 kw manual.
Is there any big differences between the two.

cheers marty.

Mechanically no.

Differences were mainly cosmetic.

IIRC, some 220kw XR8s got SVO alloy heads. They are apparently a good piece of kit, but rare.

Can't confirm that, but I reckon someone will be able to though!

Think you might be right there, T2 definitely got them.

Does anyone know what type of alloy heads they used? Were they just an alloy version of the GT40p?

The first XR8 to get alloy heads was the BA...As mentioned before, only 220kw T1 and early T2's got alloy heads.

It was the GT40Y head. It looks like an alloy version of the GT40, with the GT40P combustion chamber. It has bigger valves (1.94" and 1.54"), a slightly larger intake port (about ~5-10cc from memory...160cc total), and a different looking exhaust port.

It was only marginally better than the std GT40P with respect to flow, and no better then the YT modified GT40P's that where originall fitment on the 220kw XR8 and T3 250kw engines.

GT40X are marginally better again, with a significantly larger port (178cc). BUT aftermarket alloys like TFS twisted wedge, Eddy Performers, AFR's, and Pro-Topline/RHS are in another (better) performance level entirely...

Larger valves (i think same as GT40Y i.e. 1.94/1.54...not 100% sure on size)

A "throat cut" to open the bowl a little above the larger valves. Not sure on angle or depth of this cut though.

An increase in the cross section of the cylinder head at the start of the runner (where it joins the intake manifold), and the same done to the lower section of the intake manifold (where it joins the cylinder head).

I believe they also had some material cut off the surface of the head to reduce combustion chamber volume, to increase compression.

Somewhere on these forums, someone posted a response from one of the guys at YT summarising the work they did on the heads...

The motors that were signed were the 200kw, 220 kw, and the 250 kw motors, whether they were T series, or XR8.

No XR engines had alloy heads. The were reserved for Tseries only.
Tickford found it was not cost effecitive to keep using the alloys. At that time thy were working on the 250kw engine & found the steel heads were producing the same performance & there was no need for the extra expence, so the alloys were dropped. Even in the Tseries cars, they went steel heads.
It all can down to money.

The alloy heads they were using were the from the Ford Motorsport SVO catiloge & are the turbo swirl X303 from memory...

Getting back to series 2 or 3 220. Any of the 220 engined XRs are great. The 220 motor is a cracker & were the same in both models, no changes.

The XR8 rebel is a bit of a rare car, they were the first that came with 220kw motor, unuiqe bodykit, 18in Speedline wheels & a inbuilt playstation & screens, leather trim. I have a sales pic somewere I think they also came in only two colours.
Venom red & black, I cant remember exactly there may have been more.
hope this helps..
