Just was cleaning up in the shed this evening and decided to have a look at my old auto ecu from my wagon (bought about 9 months ago). Anyway the guy i bought it from said he had had a chip put in but i didn't believe this. Didn't feel any different to my other wagon.
Anyway long story cut short i found none other than a chip all taped up and stuck in the ecu. Does anyone know who this would be made from and if it would be worth putting into my (now manual with different ecu) wagon. If anyone could shed any light on this for me that would be great. Cheers, Rhys It was plugged in in the yellow boxed area. Sorry about the average camera phone photos.

The yellow boxed area is the J3 service port, hence the name "J3 Chip" Its just one of many aftermarket J3 chips, they all work the same pretty much. I wouldn't run it unless I knew the details of the tune on it, but regardless if its from an auto EEC then its not going to work properly (limp-home cause theres no auto) OR if its from a different strategy it simply wont work at all. I would expect you could burn a different tune onto the chip if you wanted...

Definitely a J3 chip, email Chiptorque (matt "at" chiptorque.com.au) and he'll probably have a pretty good idea.. I wouldn't discount using it (with a retune obviously..), I am running a chiptorque chip on a maffless tune on my 347.. Does everything a flash tuner can do...Except have multiple tunes..

Thanks for the info guys, i have sent an email to matt at chiptorque. With a bit of luck it will be one of there chips and it can then be reprogrammed for my mods. Which would put a huge smile on my dial.
