Default 05+ differences, US to Aust

So the yanks didn't actually get the Focus2, they got a majorly updated Focus1, which looks a lot like a focus2...and has the duratec engines. So how much of what they have is compatible with what we have? I assume that a complete turbokit from focussport wouldn't fit, but I bet the manifold, oil lines etc would...and you'd think the flashtuner would work as well for the Duratec.

Any thoughts?

Have heard the turbo kit not fit due to sterring clash with exhaust?
Can get a kit here in OZ from melbourne, seen it on Ebay. Dont know how good bad it is for $3600. I have a link if you want a look.
BlackLS said that the USA focus have a different management system that is not compatible to ours.
The Euro engine managment I think is the same as ours.

For sure, send a link thru and I'll check it out I was thinking of just buying the turbo manifold/turbo and the lines and fabricating the rest, the manifold is the hard bit anyways...as for fuel, a secondary injector and an aux injector controller would work nicely, and mean that I can pull the whole kit off the car at a later date if I need to sell it, or for whatever other reason...and it saves messing with the factory ECU and settings...

I read somewhere a Mazda3 driver tried to put one of their kits on to a RHD 3, and it clashed with the steering arm. Best bet is to give them a call and see if it works with RHD.

With the included SCT tuning in the package, its designed for a car with a MAF. The Euro Focus uses a MAP.

There is someone in Taiwan who put this kit on their LS in 2006 (abeit LHD). They got the hardware from these US guys, and had the flash software sent to Dreamscience UK who remapped it to make it usable for the LS.

It's very tempting, I must admit. How much extra power do you guys think 4psi would add? Low end torque would jump up a fair bit I'm guessing, assuming it's constant boost delivery, rather than spooling up and dumping it all at once.

I dunno if you'd find a wastegate spring for 4psi :P But the gains would be very good, not so much topend as the midrange, which would be a massive improvement. I was thinking 6-7psi, which should be good for an extra 50fwhp, but more importantly, about an extra 100% in the midrange

As some of you already know I was/am looking into turboeing mine with a kit my mate has for a Duratec.

http://www.pureperformancemotorsport...roducts_id=180

I was also planning on getting the engine rebuilt with titanim conrods and such. However we have ran into a barrier with the auto tranny not being able to handle the horses....

That's gods way of telling you you need another pedal...

-RM.

-Edit: that'd be the same as the ebay kit above yeah?

haahahaha.....yeah. guess what i'm asking from Santa for christmas?? LOL
i'm a bit of a lazy bugger so if i'm just casually cruising around town. it's kind of annoying to have to change gears all the time.... but then agian. I just can't increase the hp much without swicthing to manual... In fact i've been think that if i swicth it too manaul just to turbo it i may as well drop in a xr5 engine as well. Been thinking about seeing if i can purchase the engine and tranny and send that to my mate to build up while i continue to drive my car around and then when ready swap teh engines over.

Haven't really looked into it much but i imaging i will have to swap the exhast and diff over as well... not sure if there would be any other issues.

In a transaxle FWD car (and most of them are) the diff is integral to the gearbox, so that solves one problem...next problem, the CV joints and driveshafts are probably different, the ECU will be different, and I bet there's a host of other niggling things...for the sake of all the effort, sell yours and buy an XR5...mucho cheaper! And you can swap your big-*** brakes over too
